Just want to know if there is a significant difference in driving feel/response after upgrading? What is the biggest change? 0 Reply #3 · Sep 1, 2020 I Recently Added polestar to my XC40. I love the way that it drives in general. But I have noticed when accelerating from a red light there is a second or two hesitation and then it kind of lurches forward. I am used to immediate response in my 1996 850 R. I don’t know if this is unique to the XC40, or part of polestar? Nora in Florida Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk #5 · Sep 1, 2020

I can't say I feel a hesitation on any of the Volvos and I am a pretty spirited driver. #6 · Sep 1, 2020 Honestly, I'm not sure as we didn't even know those features existed. I'll check again when I go back to the dealership this week. I think the best reason to get the Polestar Optimization is that is really smooths out the throttle response and shifts. For both our cars, there is no acceleration lag at all anymore. #14 · Sep 2, 2020 Reducing acceleration lag is actually a great reason! Thanks for letting me know. 0 Reply #11 · Sep 2, 2020 I mentioned on another thread..but make sure you are aware the Polestar optimization must be enabled by changing the Drive Mode EVERY time after you start it It will not save and be active by default and if you aren’t in the Drive Mode it isn’t active It’s not super involved (a button press, scroll, and button press) but more Than I care to do on most trips. The first few days I was motivated to. But factor in setting Climate Control and Music and Roof and you may find yourself not doing it as often as you think you may Back on topic, it’s a significant (feeling) upgrade in responsiveness even if the 0-60 time is barely impacted #13 · Sep 2, 2020

You can also turn off the ESC Mode while in comfort to get more rear wheel bias as in the Polestar mode. 2 Replies #12 · Sep 2, 2020 @extremeoak I have another post I started recently that pretty much covers your question: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?628133-XC90-T5-R-Design-with-Polestar-vs-T6-momentum I'm in the boat, looking for a used XC90 and looking at T5 AWD R-Design (that already comes with Polster) vs. a T6 Momentum/inscription. I'm planning to test drive a T5 and T6 this weekend and will be happy to share my experience. #16 · Sep 2, 2020 Cool, great to hear. Which car are you replacing? Let me know how the test drive goes! 0 Reply #18 · Sep 3, 2020 extremeoak, i currently have a T6 V90CC 2017 lease that i need to turn in in couple of month. i love the V90CC, it's a great drive and very comfortable, but having two young kids and a lot of things to carry is the main reason to upgrade to the XC90. #19 · Sep 4, 2020 Update: Thanks everyone for your input. We've asked for the dealership to install this ahead of time before we get there. They were very gracious to do so. So excited to go pick it up this weekend! I'll let you guys know my thoughts soon. #20 · Sep 4, 2020 Not sure why anyone would pick T5 then add polestar to it. Just get the T6 instead. But it's your $$. #21 · Sep 4, 2020 Personally, I bought mine (didn't lease) and had my own reservations on the reliability/cost/complexity of maintaining a Turbo AND Supercharged engine. Maybe they will prove unfounded but I've mostly driven Toyota's so already a little nervous. If I was Leasing, wouldn't have thought twice and got the T6. But given the Deal, the 0% Financing, I couldn't see not spending ~$200 more a month to Buy over Lease Also the $3500 in difference in price (sure you may expect you can subtract $1k for Polestar) ended up being even more in reality when I was shopping. I couldn't get within $4k. For me with the driving I do I couldn't justify it. 0 Reply #22 · Sep 4, 2020 (Edited) I think you'll enjoy the difference. You are always going to get some turbo lag in a turbo engine but Polestar is not just a boost in engine output. Your shift points and a few other things are adjusted as well to make the whole driving experience better and more refined. I have a T6 but I d be curious to get your take on how the T5 differs when you pick it up. You do not need to be in Dynamic or Polestar mode to feel the effects. Keep us all in the loop... As I said, you may still have some lag but it should be more manageable. #23 · Sep 6, 2020 Update: Just picked up the ‘18 T5 AWD XC90 with Polestar Tuning. What a difference it makes! The wife couldn’t believe it’s the same car in comfort mode and I myself am almost scared to drive it in Polestar mode due to how quick the pickup is on the lower gears. Thanks everyone for your input. And to clarify as someone mentioned in the past, Polestar mode does actually replace the dynamic mode. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Insert Quotes Post Reply
