Hello. Please tell me what recovery discs are needed for my Power mac G4 Digital audio M5183 (533 Mhz/Geforce 2 32 mb):

  1. Z691-2999-A (Power Mac G4. Software Install Mac OS 9.1)
  2. Z691-3061-A, Z692-3062-A, Z691-3063-A, (Power Mac G4. Software Restore 2 of 3. Mac OS 10.03, 9.1)

or any other disks are needed for this model?

I want to restore the original system but I don't know what discs came with this model...

And is there any difference between just -A version and Z-/Z1 version?

My computer was bought in Europe, but the disks are lost. I would like to buy a new one that came with this model or download if possible. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Help needed: Can Powermac G4 867 Quicksilver 3,5 (M8360LL/A) boot OS 9.2.2 or OS 9.2.1 Natively? Greetings, I just bought this old Mac to replace a similar-era Digital Audio Mac (3,4) that I used for audio production many years ago. I need to open and possibly run many old Opcode Studio Vision recording sessions, in order to convert them and export to a newer format. In researching further, I've discovered that the G4 867 Quicksilver 3,5 is listed in EveryMac as OS 9 with an asterisks for how it boots OS9: "boot/classic**". I missed the asterisks before buying and assumed it will boot natively, as it sits alongside similar models that list "boot/classic" with no asterisks. I need to boot OS 9.2.2 natively in order to run the Opcode software (Studio Vision + OMS). Now reading further, I'm not sure if this will work for my needs. Can someone please confirm if it is possible to natively boot (not via classic) this particular model? Powermac G4 867 Quicksilver 3,5 (M8360LL/A) If not, I'll try again with a different machine. Thank you. 908 6
  • Recovering a Mac Pro 5.4 I have recovered my Mac Pro (5,4) that I purchased fro the Apple store in 2009. I did this with a full wipe and reinstall from Leopard disk that cna with te Mac and the Snow Leopard Disk that I purchase in 2011. I want to upgrade to OSX Yosemite 10.10 or El Capitan 10.11 release the this Mac will support. I went to the following web site https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210717 to find and download yosemite The file verified and package steps processed successfully. While the steps ended this the green check mark and installation successful. Nothing really seemed to change the About the Mac still sows the Snow leopard release of .10.6.8. I tried te same steps wit the El Capitan link https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206886 with the same successful installation and green check mark, with the release still remaining at 10.6.8. This Mack Pro I used by a set of Music students at the school of rock and can't easily replaced in the sort term. Any ideas appreciated. 859 3
  • Is Mac OS X 10.4.8 Intel Software? I came across a couple installation disks for Mac OS X 10.4.8. They look like they are OEM disks that came with an iMac, the labels are light gray. How can I tell if the software is for an Intel Mac or a PowerPC Mac? It does not say on either disk. Apple was transitioning the OS from PPC to Intel around this time. 848 1
