- Prodigy 400 H1 V2
The second version of the Prodigy H1 has been re-engineered to be a fast flying, but consistently overstable driver. Compared with the original H1, the V2 has a different rim. The rim depth has been reduced to provide an easier grip, while the outside edge is now sleeker and more aerodynamic to provide faster speed, more glide, and more distance. The H1 V2 is a valuable disc for both backhand and sidearm throws.

This disc is a nice overstable 10 speed and isnt too overstable. For me, im a decent thrower at about 350 max distance. Im still at a point where i cant throw certain discs if they are too overstable. Love it on a forehand. The only reason it isnt a 5 star is it is very sharp.

*NOTE* I only give 5-stars out to discs that I bag and throw actively. A 4-star disc is great and may come in and out of the bag for me and I can see another player actively bagging it.
I figured I would give a little bit of an updated review for this mold. It is not nearly as overstable as the flight numbers indicate. I've got about 450' of golf line power and this thing was not the overstable, Wraith-like disc that I was expecting. I'm ok with flight numbers being a little off as they are so subjective, but this lost a couple of points in my book when I'm expecting an overstable 11-speed and I get a neutral 9 speed.
There was a touch of flashing on my H1V2, but that was easily removed with a little sandpaper. The hand-feel was extremely comfortable after the flashing was removed, which surpised me. I was throwing this side by with the FX-3 and FX-4 and I think that the H1V2 is just slightly more stable than the FX-3, but less stable than the FX-2. For the rest of you, this flies like a beat-in Champ Thunderbird, fresh Tesla, or the stable run of Halo Dynasties, but less glidey than all of them. The flight was good, simply not what I was expecting. That and the flashing lost the H1V2 some points.

Hands down my FAVORITE overstable, meathook, utility disc. For my noodle arm, when I need 265-285' then a HARD dump left, I grab my Cameron Colglazier signature 400 H1v2. I have a couple 500 ones as well that are slightly more glidey but the 400 CG one is amazing. The H1v2 has less glide and finishes harder than my 400G and 500 FX-2. The H1v2 has less speed and distance with way less skip than my Duraflex Glow F Model OS.

This is prodig'y best take on the reliably stable control driver (their firebird). It is pretty fast with not a lot of glide, and a whole lot of fade. Very stable. The flight is similar to a discraft predator with a bit less glide. Unlike the predator or even a champion firebird, this disc is comfortable for both forehand and backhand, even though the flashing can be kind of sharp out of the box. Highly recommend for someone with a good bit of power.

Reliably overstable. I have max distance power of about 350ft, and this is reliably 275-290ish with a hard left finish (RHBH) every time. Great thrower into a headwind and always finishes overstable without too much skip. Not incredibly glidey, but that is a great feature when you're throwing 300ft lawn darts. Hits and sticks.

One day I came to the realization I was throwing my destroyers 70-80 feet farther than my thunderbirds and realized I needed to fill that gap. As a huge Kevin Jones fan that has no prodigy in his bag, I realized this gap that needed filling was the perfect time to get introduced to Prodigy. Boy, am I happy I made that decision. This thing is MONEY. STRAIGHT CASH. It does not turn, which makes it so predictable and reliable. Yet, it does not start to fade immediately, it will hold that straight line for 85% of its flight and then fades while penetrating forward rather than dumping, much like a thunderbird does. This also filled the distance gap between Thunderbird/Destroyer just as perfectly as I hoped it would. Maybe I need more Prodigy...

I've throw 3 of these and the only thing that prevented me from giving 5 stars was the inconsistencies between them. The first one was more understable than the numbers suggested. It was also gummy/soft in feel, very flexible and had a dome. I expected something a little longer than the original H1 but with a similar stiff flat top and reliable dump, and this wasn't it. RHB it would hold a straight line before a gradual fade and forehands would hyzer flip up or just pull dead left if thrown flat. My guess is I just got a bad apple.
Numbers 2 and 3 for me, flew much more as expected. Kinda like a good long firebird. Issues here were feel. Number 2 had the gummy feel as the first but was stiff and had less dome. Number 3 was maybe a tick more over stable than the others with a very stiff slick feel and almost no dome.
OVERALL :
It's a wonderful over stable disc (based on discs 2 and 3). Easier distance than the old H1 given the reconfigued design but really good reliable fade and flare. Just might never get two of a kind.

A really good forehand disc for me. Not as overstable as the original H1, but still has good overstability. The good thing about this disc is the glide.

The H1v2 is a great compliment to the H1 given that they have similar characteristics given that they are both reliably overstable, but with different levels of glide. The H1v2 has a noticibly amount more glide than the OG H1, so it is easier to throw with finesse and does not finish quite as hard, while keeping it's reliable fade.

When I started forehanding this disc I fell in love. Great for when I want to put power behind a shot and still keep the distance and accuracy. Thisnone is staying in the bag.

This is my go to forehand driver. Nice and over stable but can hold an anhyzer line on a flick with the right power then dropping to a wonderful fade. I cannot recommend this disc strong enough, especially if you are forehand player

I carry an H1v2 for windy days, so its not a 5 star regular disc I throw each round, but it does what it's supposed to admirably! Here it is along side the OG H1!

The H1 V2 is a second, slightly retooled version of the most overstable "hybrid" driver from Prodigy. I'm a fan of the H series, primarily the H3 and H4 which are more my style-- particularly the new H3 V2 which is a perfect middle-ground for both. I was excited to test the H1 V2 and see how it works for me. It is as advertised-- the most overstable of the bunch. It always fades, and it does so quite notably. It isn't overly intense on the fade, but it indeed faes, and even fights out of anhyzer throws. I would call the H1 V2 a utility disc, in my case, since I don't throw with a lot of power and am more in the middle-ground. I would use it when I need tight curves around obstacles or for spike hyzers (very good disc for that).
I would not hand this disc, or any of the Prodigy discs that end with "1" to a beginner. They are not made for that. They are made for experienced players. If you want a disc between high-speed and fairway, then the H series does the trick.
