Getting started with PlayStation®Camera.

PlayStation Camera (PS Camera) is an optional extra for your PlayStation®4 console. PlayStation Camera is required for PlayStation®VR (PS VR).

How to connect and set up your PS Camera

1. Connect the PS Camera cable to the AUX port on the back of your PS4.
2. Place your PS Camera on a level surface directly facing where you'll be sitting when you play.
3. Change the angle of the PS Camera to make sure it's capturing the right area.

Face recognition

Your PS4 will automatically login with your local user when it recognises you.

How to set up face recognition

1. Go to Settings > Users > Login Settings > Enable Facial Recognition.
2. Go to Face Data Management and select Start to begin following the on-screen instructions.
3. You can add more users following the same steps.

How to log in with face recognition

1. Power up your PS4 and press the PS button on your controller.
2. Your PS4 will recognise you, and once you hold the controller light bar as shown on screen, you'll be logged in automatically.

You may not be recognised when wearing the PlayStation VR headset as not enough of your face will be visible.

How to delete stored face recognition settings

• Go to Settings > Users > Login Settings > Face Data Management > Delete > OK.

PS4 Broadcasting

You can appear in your game broadcasts using the picture-in-picture option.

1. Start your game and press the SHARE button on the controller.
2. Select Broadcast Gameplay and sign-in to the service you'll use to broadcast. You can create a new account with the live stream provider from this screen too.
3. Before you start the broadcast, select Include Video from PlayStation Camera in Broadcast and Include Microphone Audio in Broadcasts to use the PlayStation Camera mic for your stream.

How to mute the PS Camera mic

1. Hold the PS button to open the quick menu.
2. Select Sound/Devices > Mute Microphone for PlayStation Camera.

How to use PS Camera mic for voice chat in Party

When your PS Camera is set up, the mic is automatically used for Party voice chat.

To mute the mic, select your profile on the Party screen and press the OPTIONS button on the controller.

Problems using PlayStation Camera

PS4 does not recognise the PS Camera

1. Disconnect the PS Camera and reconnect it. Long press the PS buttonand go to Sound/Devices. If the PS Camera is recognised, you will see the option Mute Microphone for PlayStation Camera on this menu.
2. If the PS Camera is still not recognised, keep the PS Camera connected and power down your PS4, and restart it.
3. Try to set up the PS Camera on another PS4, if possible.
4. Contact the retailer to find out if the PS Camera can be repaired or replaced under warranty.

Unclear image

1. Clean the PS Camera lenses using a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Don't use water or any other cleaning fluids.
2. Check the lenses to see if they are cracked or damaged.
3. The PS Camera has two lenses — make sure that neither of them are covered.
4. Try moving nearer to the camera. The optimum distance is around 2 m (6').
5. Don't move the PS Camera after you have set it up.
6. Make sure the PS Camera is on a stable surface. Movement during gameplay may result in tracking failure.
7. Contact the retailer to find out if the PS Camera can be repaired or replaced under warranty.
