Replacement movements are cheap and easy to find. PT5000 is a newer movement which is a clone of an ETA movement. It has a higher beat rate, so the second hand moves more smoothly. Replacement movements are a little more but should be easy to find for a long time. I don't have one, but people online seem to be worried about the combination of the less reliable ETA movement and the new clone manufacturing process. #3 · Jan 2, 2022 For me: If I want to mod it I prefere a NH movement as it's easier to mod. Otherwise I'm fine with the PT5000. Got 3 of them as of now and I'm happy with them. Of course it also depends on the price. The PT5000 is an extra cost option, is smoother (28,800 vph versus 21,600 vph), and is somewhat more accurate if properly adjusted. The Sea-Gull ST2130 is equivalent to the PT5000, and both are ETA 2824-2 clones. The PT5000 is the most hyped movement these days, but it offers no real advantages over the ST2130 or the Miyota 9105. The Miyota probably has the edge in reliability, and many Chinese watch forum members consider the Sea-Gull movements cleaner (superior factory cleanliness). Insert Quotes Post Reply
