How come I don’t have the recent updates like the iOS 14 ? I was wanting to do widgetsmith on my phone but it tells me that I need the recent updates. I have the 12.5.1 when I need to have the update everyone has. I’m far behind..

Hello Shayla-

You did not tell us which iPhone you are using. I will now guess that you are using either an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6 Plus. If my guess is correct then your iPhone 6 can only be updated up to IOS Version 12.5.1. You will need a newer iPhone to update to iOS version 14.x. This is because your iPhone 6 does not meet the hardware requirements for optimal performance of the higher iOS updates.

An iPhone 6 can only be updated up to iOS version 12.5.1. You are there and cannot go any further. This is because the iPhone 6 is limited by its processor and total RAM. You will need a newer iPhone to use and install iOS version 14.x

If the phone is running iOS 12.5.1, it is an iPhone 5S, 6, or 6 Plus. Neither model can be updated further.

What iPhone do you have? It’s possible your iPhone isn’t eligible for iOS 14 or anything beyond the iOS you currently have. I’m assuming you checked to see if there is an update available in settings.

Currently the latest beta update is iOS 14.4 . If you have iPhone 6 lineup, iOS 12.4.7 will be your last update but for iPhone 6s series , you can update to 13.3.1.

I have an iPhone 7 & I have been checking in setting but still don’t see the newer update. I really need to upgrade my phone but don’t have enough saved up for a newer iPhone update .
