AMD Radeon R9 380X

The R9 390 might be the extreme flagship of the latest GCN 3.0 set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most high-end PC gamers. On the other hand, the R9 380X is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 229. AMD ’s xx80 cards have always been defined by high-end prices with performance that knocks on the door of extreme graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the GCN 3.0 graphics card inside the R9 380X, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

The R9 380X is much more cheaper than the R9 280 as it costs $ 229. Compare this to the R9 280, AMD Radeon R9 280X, which came originally at a price of $ 279, $ 299. Meanwhile, the NVIDIA closest equivalent card is the GTX 970 which costs $ 329. Spec for spec, this R9 380X leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the R9 280, by boasting 14.5 % more fps.

The R9 380X has 4 GB RAM compared to the R9 280 's 3 GB video memory. Compared to its NVIDIA 's closest rival, GTX 970, the R9 380X was -28.9 % slower.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Valorant at 87 fps to 87 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 87 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Valorant at 71 fps to 71 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 71 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Valorant at 62 fps to 62 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 62 fps.
