Racal R I always thought that you couldn't get a tuning box for the new D4 engine but it seems that Racechip now sell one :) Claimed to add 54 BHP, bringing it up to 244BHP. https://www.racechip.co.uk/shop/volvo/v40-m-from-2012/d4-1969ccm-190hp-140kw-400nm.html Does anyone have any experience of using a tuning box? #1 · Oct 31, 2016 I always thought that you couldn't get a tuning box for the new D4 engine but it seems that Racechip now sell one :) Claimed to add 54 BHP, bringing it up to 244BHP. https://www.racechip.co.uk/shop/volvo/v40-m-from-2012/d4-1969ccm-190hp-140kw-400nm.html Does anyone have any experience of using a tuning box? Richard #3 · Oct 2, 2017 lou did you go ahead with the +54 bhp chip? been looking at the same for mine and wondered how you got on.... #4 · Oct 2, 2017 Have a look at what Rica can do for a D4. They remap and give you a box to tune/detune your engine yourself. I went from 190 to 225 BHP (dyno measured) with 451 Nm. Same company offers a stage 2, but that becomes a bit much for the stock clutch and gearbox... #5 · Aug 1, 2018 I spoke to RICA regarding the stage 2 remap and they assured me that it is designed to be done on the factory components, the 6 speed box is very strong and the standard clutch will hold the power, obviously the clutch will wear quicker however when you do replace it just fit an uprated clutch and pressure plate to get a bit more life out of it. Obviously to take advantage of the power a performance air filter is essential and a free flowing exhaust would be needed. Any remapping adds additional strain on the components that’s prob why the polestar tune is only 10bhp more as they offer it with the standard warranty. Mine will hopefully be dyno tuned shortly and I’m aiming for 250bhp as a minimum, the major limiting factor is probably the compound turbo, I can’t find any info on it other than it’s a BorgWarner R2S K16 twin turbo, no psi/wastegate pressure, compressor sizes or any specs at all. Any info would be greatly appreciated. #6 · Feb 27, 2019 Racechip is just a powerbox evolution that fools the common rail sensor. It's certainly not the best way to go at it. Insert Quotes Post Reply
