  • This week on The Front Row Podcast, we’re talking subs. Placement, measurements, and why convenience often works against good bass. Click here for details.

Giak G Could you please help me to choose a sub for my 5.1 setup? I have a 5.1 setup (actually no sub), with Klipsch speakers (RP-6000F as fronts), Denon AVC-X3700H receiver. Room is around 16' x 26' feet (40 square meters) and sub will be in the corner. Unfortunately I can't take a big one and it needs to be white, with white grille. Use is 60% HT and 40% music. I know they are both small for my installation, but I was thinking about one of the following: SVS SB2000 Pro REL T/7x Don't have any chance to listen them. What would you recommend? I am open to other brands/models also, but it needs to be white and similar size. Would it be useless to spend money for a small sub in my room? Both are available in white. Both will be a step up in performance from the two on your list. Will a small sub be a waist,,,,,,, well it all depends on your expectations. Also i hope your at least on a floating floor as that will help transfer tactile feel if sub placement is close enough. Edit,,,,, i wouldn't waist your money on the REL,,, its way overpriced for what you get in performance especially for movies with 200 watts and its tiny 8" active driver that is down -6 db at 30hz. Music only sub at best in a tiny room imo. The sb2000 for sure out of the two on your list. The Rythmik E15HP2 will be the best of the three while staying compact. It also will extend down to 14 hz, of course room and set up dependent. #3 · Dec 15, 2021 Thanks for your reply. Rythmik is too large in dimension, even E15HP2. Also, I am in Europe and I don't know if they ship out of US. With a little effort I could arrive to REL T/9x, which has two 10" drivers and matches the SB2000 Pro in external cabinet dimensions. Would you still prefer SVS? Consider that I could get SB2000 Pro and T/9x for the same price (more or less). #4 · Dec 15, 2021 The T9X has only one active driver that is smaller, a less powerful amp and a higher -3db point. The SB2KPro would be better for HT and still be good for music. Plus the app control is handy. The Rel might be better for music based on their loyal following and some online reviews. 1 Reply #7 · Dec 15, 2021 (Edited) The two i mentioned are in white,,,,,,,,,so Rythmik isn't an option?,,,,, they don't ship there?? If not,,,,, then, My bad for two reasons as i thought that he was from Mexico. Flags are very similar. EDIT,,, Arendalaudio has white subs in your area which have been well regarded. If in your budget would be well worth a look #8 · Dec 20, 2021 (Edited) Finally I discarded the REL and selected the following 2 other options:
  • Arendal 1961 Sub 1s
  • XTZ 10.17 Sub
Arendal has a 12.2" driver in a sealed box, XTZ has a 10" driver in a ported sub. Which one do you think I should choose? How do they compare to SVS Sb2000 pro? Insert Quotes Post Reply
