I want to buy a curved monitor but not willing to go ultrawide yet as I would be using the monitor for other activities (work, movies), my assumption based on what I saw is that they are nearly identical in terms of image quality at 1440p but the G5 is over half the price. Can anyone who knows these two monitors tell me whether there's a substantial difference? I would be using it for MSFS. Not at all interested in 240Hz, even 144Hz seems overkill as I don't play FPS.

Thanks

This might help:

Why do you want to avoid ultrawide for work? I find the extra real estate nicer to work with.

Thanks. I use the computer for games, working, watching movies, I'm coming from a 32 inch 16:9 screen so not really wanting to sacrifice height knowing an ultrawide wouldn't display movies full screen. I am not ruling out getting two screens down the road but need to upgrade my desk first.

Another consideration is the type of video card you have. If you want to take advantage of syncing the monitor's refresh rate with the video cards, Ge-Sync only works with NVidia cards, and FreeSync only with AMD. As far as I am aware, The Odyssey's only support FreeSync

@canadiantree, looking at this comparison the G5 would save you money as the G7 has features you wouldn't be able to use. The main difference is the G7 has a brighter screen which may come in handy of your room is bright. The screen type is the same for both - VA.

I have the G7 and it’s stunning, the picture quality is amazing. My son came over and saw it and bought one the next day.

The G7 comes with g-sync.
