Sensational Rendering Shows Off Widebody Volkswagen Golf Mk1

Digital car renderings are some of the best pieces of artwork out there. They allow us to have radically different vehicles to what we have in real life, without taking apart what could be a classic car. The Volkswagen Golf GTI MK1 is one such classic. Digital renderer @demetr0s_designs on Instagram has created this epic rendering of the Golf MK1 GTI that has a widebody, Group B rally style treatment to turn it into one epic looking monster.

The Big Group B Changes

The Group B rally cars were well known for their wild looks and boxy like nature, with each one of them being among the craziest rally cars in history. This Group B homage is evident from the front, with the fascia very boxy like and quite flat, and the front splitter that we can see is a sign that this car has racing potential. On the hood, we can see quite a sizable blower sticking out, something you will not have seen on the world rally cars. What we can see sticking out of the hood is actually a Garret G Series Turbocharger.

Widebody Modifications Continue Across The Golf

The changes to the car carry on across the rest of the body, the kit being a custom design from the creator of the rendering. Inside, there is a custom roll-cage for the Golf, again highlighting the racing nature of the car. The wheel fenders are much, much bigger, totally covering the top of the wheels and tires, which themselves are also a lot bigger. The wheels are Deep Dish BBS wheels, and the front fenders integrate very nicely into the enlarged and modified front fascia.

The Rear Wing Is The Biggest Back-End Change

The biggest alteration to the car though is that rear-wing. Group B cars never had a rear wing like this, but it is part of the modern flair that the creator says they have added to this car, as does the large diffuser at the back as well. The rear fenders also do look like they are even bigger looking than those we can see at the front. The Golf is now much wider and lower to the ground, and it certainly looks like it would be an absolute animal to handle. It's cool to see a MK1 Golf GTI take on this form, a hint as to what one might have looked like in the World Rally Championship.
