Shimano's product page for the BR-RX400 calipers, lists K03S, K04S, L03C and L04C as standard pads and option pads and a recent Shimano compatibility chart seems to indicate that B035, G03A, G03S, G04S, G04Ti, K03S, K03Ti, K04S, K04Ti, J03A, J04C, L03A, L04C are all compatible. Is it correct that all those pads are compatible and the dashes in each column just mean that those pads are not included as an pre-installed option when you buy a new caliper? If so I have more options that I was looking for. nPn is offline Reply 0 0 nPn View Public Profile Find More Posts by nPn View iTrader Profile Old 05-08-22 | 07:58 AM #2 HillRider Senior Member Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 33,656 Likes: 1,116 From: Pittsburgh, PA Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here! I'm not all that familiar with Shimano's brake pad nomenclature but I believe these pads all have the same configuration but vary in pad composition (e.g. resin, semi-metallic, full metallic) and backing plate material (steel, Ti and Al). Someone who is more familiar can verify or alter my take on them. No it doesn't. Quote: Is it correct that all those pads are compatible and the dashes in each column just mean that those pads are not included as an pre-installed option when you buy a new caliper? No. K-type and L-type pads are only for flat mount calipers, they are smaller in length to the G-type, J-type and B-type pads that are for post mount calipers, the B-type pad is a wide type pad that's only made for use with certain calipers and rotors. Brakes that use K-type and L-type pads can''t use G-type, J-type or B-type pads because they won't fit in the caliper. These 3 pages show the different lengths of K-type, G-type and B-type pads. https://bikeimport.ch/shop/product/2...K03%20/%20K03S https://bikeimport.ch/shop/product/1...TI%20/%20G04S/ https://bikeimport.ch/shop/product/1...S%20/%20Resin/ Last edited by cobba; 05-09-22 at 09:56 AM. cobba is offline Reply 0 0 cobba View Public Profile Find More Posts by cobba View iTrader Profile Old 05-09-22 | 05:36 PM #4 nPn Thread Starter Newbie Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 49 Likes: 6 Bikes: 2007 Kona Cinder Cone, 2012 Raleigh Revinio 3.0 Quote: Originally Posted by cobba No it doesn't. It's disappointing that the chart does not mark the L-types, which the product pages says are compatible, any differently than the other types such as the J-types. As far as I can tell the main difference between the K and L is that the L's has fins and K's don't? I really don't see the need for the fins so I will stick with the K-type if possible. A LBS near me did have at few K04Ti's. At the time I did not purchase them, because I had only written down the K03S, K04S, L03A and L04C as being compatible. Can I assume that if I can only find a K03Ti or a K04Ti those will be OK? BTW my disc are metal pad compatible, not resin-only, so while I think I would rather have the longer lasting metal pads, I would take the resin pads if that's all I can find. nPn is offline Reply 0 0 nPn View Public Profile Find More Posts by nPn View iTrader Profile Reply Subscribe Back to Subforum Bicycle Mechanics View Next Unread Yet another use for old inner tubes Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is OffTrackbacks are Off Pingbacks are Off Refbacks are Off Forum Rules Thread Tools Show Printable Version Show Printable Version Search this Thread Advanced Search Thread Tools Show Printable Version Email this Page Advanced Search Reply Closed Thread Share
