    Shimano H03C vs H03A

03-24-2022, 06:39 PM Shimano had a nice writeup for the differences between the 2. https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/infor...eed-to-kn.html It almost sounds like the resin H03A pads are the way to go. But it sounds like everyone here is doing the metal H03C pads. Any recommendations on which I should go with? Do the metal H03C pads make noise? I'll be doing mostly paved road riding. Tags: None

#2 03-24-2022, 07:20 PM I have the H03C and they don't make any noise, but for road riding they're overkill. Actually, the stock pads are perfectly fine for road riding, just make sure the caliper/pads are centered around the disc.

Depends: on Black Diamond trails the stock pads will overheat, won't be able to stop you, and you'll crash hard; with the Shimano pads you simply stop every time, so the difference is night and day. On asphalt roads the difference is very small, e.g. you can do stoppies with both of them.

#5 04-13-2022, 10:59 PM I upgraded to the metal pads. The difference on the road is actually very noticeable. Highly recommend upgrading to others. They are pretty noisy when jamming on them. Especially since the bike makes almost no noise elsewhere.

#6 06-01-2022, 08:19 PM i have both a and c versions. they both are great. the big gain over stock is the heat sinks they put on both the A and C models. amazing to touch them briefly after a typical ride. you will be shocked by the heat they transfer. makes me wonder how the stockers even worked. the article said some guys can't decide so they run both. Put the A up front and the C in the back. Or, they said to run the sintered metal on the inside caliper/piston and the resin on the outside piston. I may try that for kicks.
