This weekend, replaced the HG201 11-36 with a new HG400 12-36 and now there is a strange vibration / skipping feeling when under power. It is worse on the small chainring (30/46 FSA) and feels best on big-big gearing. Checked indexing and B screw and everything is fine on workstand but feels terrible when riding. Tried 2 different HG201 cassettes and they both work as expected - but - when HG400 installed - same problem. Also the chain is nearly new KMC with about 100 miles on it. Any ideas? sjfoote081 is offline Reply 0 0 sjfoote081 View Public Profile Find More Posts by sjfoote081 View iTrader Profile Old 05-18-20 | 12:45 PM #2 dsbrantjr's Avatar dsbrantjr Senior Member Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 8,327 Likes: 1,106 From: Roswell, GA Bikes: '93 Trek 750, '92 Schwinn Crisscross, '93 Mongoose Alta Is the cassette being securely clamped by the (properly-torqued) lock ring? Is there a spacer missing? Yes, I have checked and verified cassette is installed correctly and torqued to spec. There are no additional spacers that I am aware of - none came with the cassette. It is standard 9 speed shimano so I would think exact replacement for the original cassette. sjfoote081 is offline Reply 0 0 sjfoote081 View Public Profile Find More Posts by sjfoote081 View iTrader Profile Old 05-18-20 | 02:57 PM #6 sjfoote081 Thread Starter Newbie Joined: May 2017 Posts: 59 Likes: 13 From: Greensboro, GA Bikes: Trek Crossrip 1, Motobecane Fantom 650b Quote: Originally Posted by Bill Kapaun Have you tried turning the barrel adjuster a click or 3? Yes, went thru indexing again and everything works great on the workstand - shifts like a dream until under load. I usually have to change the adjuster a click or 2 from the stand to the road. Apparently my weight on the bike changes "something" a little bit.
