I've been getting upwards of 80+ c during gaming and and torn between whether i should get a new cpu cooler or not. After about an hour of gaming the cpu itself will heat up my room making it rather uncomfortable to game during hot days. Would a better performing AIO even fix this or am i doing something wrong. A previous thread said turning PBO off would help but im just not seeing the results i want. If getting an AIO will help i've seen about 20 different ones reccomended and not sure what to go with.
Here are my specs just for those wondering.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU: ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 10GB Gundam Edition
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Chromax
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2x16) 3600MHz CL16
Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 White
PSU: Corsair RM850
Ive got 3 Corsair QL140 140mm fans pulling air in from the front of the case with 1 exhaust, ive added another fan above the cpu cooler ontop of the case to see if that would help with the temps by spitting out hot air but doesnt seem to be making a difference.
Thanks!

The heating your room will not change a single bit because the heat output won't change just the way you put it in the room so you will not have a colder room thats not how this works.
The fix here is ventilating your room.

I think you make a good point but i still think if an AIO performs better and brings temps down somewhat (for example 10c on load) it would beneficial? I do think your point is the main issue though

Even if the cpu temps drop the heat output won't change. See it like this:
I have 1l of water that I pour into a very tall glass and a very wide glass. Which glass has more water? Neither they have the same amount even if it looks different.
The heat output will not change and your room will not stop heating up.

I get it thanks, i was mainly wondering since in my previous builds (Intel i7 7700k) i never had this sort of issue. And i was thinking it was possibly due to the heat output differences of the cpus since with the 5900x and 5950x they perform quite hot.

The heat ouput of a 5900x is indeed higher. So that is most likely why you are experiencing this.

How aggressive is your PBO setting? Asking because I have a 5950x with a Fuma 2 (so both more heat output and less cooling capacity), and my CPU does reach ~87º at most, but that's only when I'm hitting it for a 100% usage.

with aio it will just take 10 minutes more to reach stable temps, heat in room will stay the same.
You can lower the temps by undervolting (with curve optimizer) your CPU. Most 5900x can go stable between -20 to -15 negative offset
also your cpu cooler might just be soaking the temps from the 3080s backplate. Again you can undervolt ur GPU with msi afterburner and curve to lower them

Thanks for the reccs and comparisons will defo take these into account. My PBO setting during the post was set to Auto but before i would disable it and would see similar temps. I think im just going to stick with disabling it for now

I don't think using it on auto is a good idea. Either disable it, or fine tune by yourself.

Your heat issues may be caused by the 3080. I have a Strix 3080 and it traps air, heats it up and then delivers it to the CPU cooler.
To test to see if this is your problem set the 3080's fans to 100% and then run your CPU test. If the CPU temps are down then it is the GPU that is causing it.
For AIOs I use EK 360mm. They are about 5c cooler than a NH-D15, EVGA 360mm and Silverstone 360mm.
Here is my R20 results with a 5900x at stock.
