Apr 13, 2015 62 0 4,660 Just when I thought I knew enough about mobos and cpus, I start hearing socket 1150 and 1155 interchangeably, for the same part. Does it mean the same thing? I already have my system picked out and I know it's all compatible, but I would like to know so I can help others on this forum and so I don't provide incorrect information. Thank you in advance! LGA 1150: LGA 1150 also called Socket H3, is a microprocessor socket used by Intel CPUs built around the Haswell microarchitecture. It's a successor of 1155 Socket. LGA 1150 socket is also to be used by the Haswell's successor, Broadwell microarchitecture. LGA 1150: LGA 1150 also called Socket H3, is a microprocessor socket used by Intel CPUs built around the Haswell microarchitecture. It's a successor of 1155 Socket. LGA 1150 socket is also to be used by the Haswell's successor, Broadwell microarchitecture. LGA 1150 socket has 1150 protruding pins that make contact with the pads on the bottom side of the processor. LGA 1155: LGA 1155, also called Socket H2, is a socket used for Intel microprocessors based on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge microarchitectures. LGA 1155 has 1155 protruding pins to make contact with the pads on the processor. So because of the 5 pin differences, you cannot use 1150 processors on a 1155 motherboards and vice versa. Cheers!
