Exterior Color White Description Although the run of RS200 Group B cars had to be road-legal, the original intent was to sell them as rally cars ; however soon after the RS200 debuted, Group B was cancelled, leaving Ford with no obvious home for the majority of the built cars. Some were sold as roadgoing GT cars with full Ford backup, some competed effectively in rallycross, whilst 46 cars were stripped down by Ford for potential spare parts support C61 SAO was assembled on one of these chassis on the instruction of Sir John Hall, of Cameron Hall Developments, former chairman of Newcastle United Football Club. The car was constructed by Mike Little Preparations (who ran the RS200 rally team in 1986 on behalf of Ford Motor Company, winning the British Rally Championship), as a standard road car variant. The project was fully supported by Ford Motor Company, and the car has documentation describing the build and a stack of associated invoices showing that all the required RS200 components were sourced directly from Ford UK, at no little expense. It was first registered on 1/5/93, and is believed to be the last OEM RS200 built. C61 SAO is documented in RS200 circles and is described in the definitive RS200 reference book ‘RS200 : The Story So Far’ . The car has 3 previous owners and was acquired by the current owner on 25/10/2013. The history file allows the ownership history of the car to be verified. To the best of the owner’s knowledge, it has never been rallied or on track. The last MOT was on 26/6/19 (no advisories) and with the current extension, expires in December 2020. Current mileage is 4958 miles (10/7/20). The condition of the car overall (see below) is in line with the very limited use that this implies The car has 3 previous owners and was acquired by the current owner on 25/10/2013. The history file allows the ownership history of the car to be verified. To the best of the owner’s knowledge, it has never been rallied or on track. Additional Information The last MOT was on 26/6/19 (no advisories) and with the current extension, expires in December 2020. Current mileage is 4958 miles (10/7/20). The condition of the car overall (see below) is in line with the very limited use that this implies C61 SAO is in fine overall condition, with all panels correct and no damage, apart from minor glassfibre gel coat crazing and minor fraying to the lower rear clamshell which is typical for such vehicles. The car is equipped with the optional iconic front 4 HELLA lamp rally ‘pod’, and also benefits from Ford Motorsport option stripes applied over the standard Diamond White bodywork. The car has not been restored – condition is original. The secondary internal rear light clusters and engine bay inspection light are present and correct, but not wired in currently. The car has the rare OEM option rally bucket seats, trimmed in red, with minimal wear. The car has the desirable 3-mode 4WD selector lever fitted adjacent to the main gear lever – a relatively small number of non rally cars feature this. Currently, it is locked in standard torque split 4WD mode, but it is straightforward to release it. The correct Ford BDT engine is fitted. All the ancillaries (turbo, injectors, manifolds, fuel pump, intercooler, EEC-4 management system, etc) are standard OEM RS200 fit The car has the optional OEM ‘ear’ intakes to either side of the roof-mounted intercooler housing, for improved induction and bay cooling. The unique, complex, multi differential FF transmission and transfer box gear is fully present and correct. This car has the rare OEM steel flywheel ‘A’ ring plus the direct acting clutch slave cylinder modification, which in combination, make for a somewhat less highly strung driving experience Running at c. 1 bar maximum boost, the estimated maximum power output is of the order of 350bhp – a level that the chassis & transmission system are easily able to handle. In summary, this is a usable, road-ready RS200 Doors 2 Built 1993 Engine Cylinders 4 Condition Used Country United Kingdom Title SOLD!!! : FORD RS200 Group B Car - Road
