[Solved] 1 Kmol Of Any Gas At N.T.P Occupies Volume Of

Concept:

NTP

  • The NTP is known as Normal temperature and pressure.
  • The temperature at NTP is 20°C or 293.15 K
  • The pressure at NTP is 1 atm or 101.35 kPa.
  • The molar volume of an ideal gas at NTP is 22.4 L for one mole of a gas.

Molar volume at NTP is calculated by

\(V_m = \frac {RT}{P} = \frac {8.314\;×\;293.15}{101350}= 0.02241~m^3= 22.4~ L\)

where R = universal gas constant = 8.31 J K-1 mole-1, T = Temperature = 293.15 K, P = Pressure = 101.35 kPa = 101350 Pa

Calculation:

Given:

No of moles = 1 kmol = 1000 mol.

\(V_m = \frac {RT}{P} = \frac {8.314\;×\;293.15}{101350}= 0.02241~m^3\)

Volume of 1 kmol of ideal gas at NTP = 1000 × Vm = 1000 × 0.02241 m3 = 22.41 m3
