Dec 29, 2016 17 0 10,510 I was getting high 80s - low 90s when gaming with the stock cooler so I upgraded to a Noctua U9S but am only seeing a decrease of about 10 degrees when gaming. Light use like browsing chrome has it at high 40s - low 50s. My case is the Fara R1 Pro with the case fans that come with it and a B550 tomahawk motherboard. I've tried reinstalling the cooler with fresh thermal paste and also turning off PBO in the BIOS with similar results. Solution I assume you refer to Noctua's included "Ultra Low Noise Adapter". That can easily be detached. It's optional. It makes a very quiet cooler fan even quieter. You don't need it at all. I've never used mine. It likely prevents the fan from turning above a very low RPM. You don't want that. After you get rid of it, use a tool like HWInfo64 to see exactly what speed your case and cooler fans are spinning at. Your PC BIOS likely has a mechanism to control fan speeds. You can likely force them all to spin at or near their maximum rpm. Look in the BIOS. I have all of my fans set for "silent" mode. The U9S fan spins near a constant 800 and the 2 Noctua case fans spin near a constant 500. I don't use a video card and care more about noise... Sort by date Sort by votes L

Dec 2, 2021 6,234 1,892 15,690 I have a U9S but I don't game. It is an excellent cooler for its size, but it is short and would typically be used only with a fairly narrow case that could not accept a Noctua U12S or U14S. It has a 92 mm fan rather than 120 mm or 140 mm. I assume you cannot use a taller cooler? The U12S (which I have used) should give you roughly 5 degrees lower temps if your case will accommodate it. What are your ambient temperatures? Right now, my i5-6600K CPU is idling at 27 degrees (81 degrees Fahrenheit) on a U9S in a 22 degree ambient room (71 degrees Fahrenheit). You could try dual fans on the U9S, but that likely would not improve temps by more than a degree or two. Is your Noctua cooler fan running at max speed? Upvote 0 Downvote youiee

Dec 29, 2016 17 0 10,510 My case might be able to support more but I've already put the cooler to use so the place I bought it from won't take it back for a refund. I'm not sure of the ambient temps but at night when it's cooler the temps drop by about 5 degrees. I don't have enough clearance next to the ram to fit a second fan. Not sure, how do I adjust the fan speed? I do have the silent fan cable attached. Upvote 0 Downvote L

Set all fans to run as fast as possible and then re-evaluate temps and noise levels. Upvote 0 Downvote Solution You must log in or register to reply here.
