Dec 31, 2011 107 1 18,695 I have an h110 pro-vd what cpu will be okay in it ? I had an i5 2400 thinks thats the wrong cpu because I get no post won't even boot up but fans come on heat sink works but no post this is what someone told me are they right My H110 motherboard can't recognise Kaby Lake processors because it needs a BIOS update first. You need a Skylake CPU to be able to access and update the BIOS is this true ? or just an compatible cpu? thanks for the help Solution
Aeacus said: Well, any Intel 6th gen CPU (Skylake) will work fine in your H110 chipset MoBo. However, if you want to use any Intel 7th gen CPU (Kaby Lake), your MoBo needs to have latest BIOS. Also, only LGA1151 socket 6th and 7th gen CPUs work in your MoBo. i5-2400 which you have is Intel 2nd gen CPU with LGA1155 socket and that flat out doesn't work in your H110 chipset MoBo (different CPU socket). For i5-2400, you'll need LGA1155 socket MoBo (e.g H61, P67, H67, Z68, B75, H77 or Z77 chipset). For BIOS update, you need any Skylake family CPU in the MoBo to get to the BIOS and update it. E.g: Celeron G3900, Pentium G4400, i3-6100, i5-6400, i5-6600K, i7-6700K. All compatible Skylake CPUs, pcpp... Click to expand...

This is list of supported cpus for h110 pro-vd: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H110M-PRO-VD#support-cpu Skylake cpus will work out of the box, Kabylake cpus will require BIOS update first. i5 2400 - not compatible with this board. Upvote 0 Downvote W
