Some C6th Copedents - The Pedal Steel Pages

The C6th “jazz” copedent in commonly applied to the back neck of a double neck (D-10) pedal steel. It evolved from the popular western swing steel guitar tunings of yesteryear, when players would switch necks in mid phrase to get different kinds of chords. The design philosophy behind the C6th copedent provides all of those chords easily on a single neck. Here are some examples.

Buddy Emmons’ C6th with 5 pedals and 4 knee levers (below) is largely considered to be the “standard”. Many existing double-neck guitars don’t include the left knee levers, though.
