Hot Rolled & Thermal Barrier Steel Window Profiles

Steel windows are the preferred choice of architects, especially when their function is to significantly contribute to the character and overall appearance of a façade.

In comparison to other materials, hot rolled steel sections bring elegant, minimalist aesthetics to the façade. Their slender lines give lightness to the frames, emphasizing the transparency of a façade. At the end of the 20th century, an increase on thermal insulation regulations forced the development of a new generation of steel windows with a higher thermal performance. Window frames manufacturers were faced with the challenge to introduce thermal brakes in metal systems while preserving the architectural essence and visual quality of the original solid steel sections.

OTTOSTUMM distinctive steel window systems

In 2014, in partnership with MOGS, Montanstahl founded the company OTTOSTUMM. OTTOSTUMM supports architects and planners with state-of-the-art thermal barrier steel window systems, which not only preserve the character of national heritage buildings, but also offer windows with distinguishing contemporary visual qualities. Thermally broken steel windows are available as solid steel sections with mechanically crimped fiber reinforced polyamide webs or cold formed steel sections with casted polyurethane webs (called W50 TB system). Mechanical crimping is suitable for companies that are able to develop and certify window systems in-house. In comparison, W50 TB is a new thermal barrier steel window system suitable for companies, which prefer a single supply source for all components, a certified system, technical guidance or a 360° support on steel window manufacturing.
