#1 · Jul 25, 2019 Greetings from Finland, This question to me is related to fat bikes as I am currently looking for my first entry fat bike. However, I will post this thread under the heading "Drivetrain" because the differences between the bikes I am currently comparing are almost exclusively related to Sram SX Eagle vs. GX Eagle. The bikes in question are from the Scandinavian manufacturer White (Find your new bike | White Bikes ). The site does not list the fat bikes they manufacture. (There is also the carbon fork of the Interceptor, and somewhat better brakes, and the 0,5 kg lighter weight.) The difference between the price tags between these models is 250 euros (about 280 $). I would very much appreciate any information/experiences with the Sram SX Eagle vs. GX Eagle components; will this difference - in your expertise opinion - justify the pricetag difference of 250 euros, or should I go with the cheaper model with the SX Eagle components? It's going to be slightly heavier than NX and GX, and it will have a Non XD hub, so future upgrades to GX,XO or XX would require a new rear wheel. I'd spend the extra 250 and get GX, because you are getting more than just a drivetrain. You are moving up to a carbon fork, lightens the front end, nicer brakes, ect. If you upgrade all that stuff yourself, it will cost way more than 250 bux. Me either. #5 · Jul 26, 2019 The SX rear derailleur does not have the pulley wheel like the NX and up. I would drop the extra cash and go with the GX. The shifter and cassette and also way better. I'd pay the extra money for the GX derailleur and cassette alone. #13 · Jul 27, 2021 Can one just replace the GX derailleur for the SX or you need the shifter too, and or casette? Nice to hear of the differences between the SX Eagle and GX Eagle components. #7 · Jul 26, 2019 I think I've seen that the SX derailleur's adjustment screws are only self-threaded screws directly into plastic -- run away! Regardless, that 7Fat Interceptor looks like a nice value! My only "wish" for it would be an XD driver hub and GX or better cassette. Some off-topic: It is interesting that for the price of the White 7fat Interceptor you can get a new 2020 Kona WO ”Finnish edition” which comes with same wheels/hubs etc. but with Sram SX Eagle groupset making it component-wise worse than the Interceptor. But the Kona seems to be more respected in brand name and with respect to it's frame because some here in Finland, at least, seem to prefer it over the White Interceptor. Of course, there are differing opinions too. #11 · Jul 28, 2019 I wouldn't go any lower than GX #12 · Nov 5, 2019 If only the Interceptor came in black like the 7Fat Pro. I don't care about the fork being alu or CF as I'm replacing it with a Mastodon anyway, so for me it makes sense to not pay for the CF fork. I would also very much like to have eyelets for mounting a rear rack, but that drops me down to the 7Fat Lite, which isn't really on the table at all.
