After five years of restoration work, St. Joseph’s Church has reopened its doors to worshippers. Its first-weekday mass was held yesterday. Many people worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this a reality. While it is not possible to mention each and every individual who has supported us, we would like to acknowledge, in particular the support of the National Heritage board’s Grant of $1.952mil in total (from 2011, 2019, and 2020 respectively). The latest repairs to the monument were supported with the total grant of $1.42mil against the $8mil required for the monument.Restoration works for the church’s main building, a national monument gazetted in 2005, and its Parochial House, a conserved building, cost about $25.2 million.

Last year, we had the blessing of attending Pope Francis’ visit to Singapore. During our time at St Joseph’s Church, we came across pamphlets for the novena to St Josemaria Escriva. I began praying the novena last month, and on the very day I completed the intentions for Work, I received an invitation to step into my dream role - serving as a Coach for Chronic Illness Warriors. It’s a space where people are empowered to reclaim their lives and find harmony in family, work, and personal healing. I’m deeply grateful for this novena being shared with us - it has truly been a grace-filled journey. From your daughter from the Philippines, Ivy. I prayed the 'Novena for the Sick' through the intercession of St. Josemaria, using the brochure I obtained from the Saint Joseph Church a few months back. My brother in law was having post operative complications from his surgery of appendicitis and colon in Singapore 2 weeks ago. His complications included leakage from the colon surgery causing infection. He was rushed for emergency second operation under a critical condition. After the second surgery, he was put in ICU with intubation for 3 days and the situation then was rather critical. Thank you Lord for giving my brother in law the instinct to decide to ask for second opinion from a second surgeon, for giving the wisdom to the surgeon and team of doctors to have that life saving and successful second operation; and for giving him the will power to fight during that critical phase when the odds were staggering against him after the second operation. Thank you Lord for your amazing Grace and for giving him a second lease of life. He will be discharged from the hospital this afternoon after 2 weeks of trials & tribulation. Praise the Lord. Amen. Your loving child O Blessed Mother of Sorrows, thank You for choosing Your Feastday to be the same day that I was officially confirmed in my present job. I truly am so happy and proud that You, Mother, have chosen this beautiful day, the 15th of September, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, to be my job confirmation date. Thank You Dear Mother.
