The authors of this paper point out that the implementation of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) allows companies to position their brands stronger, to strengthen their image, increase market share and increase their ability to attract and retain employees. An important argument for increased social responsibility of Serbian companies is that they can thus achieve the benefits of globalization, privatization and deregulation, as well as to relieve the negative impact of international trade flows and international investment. In general, the paper consists of three parts. First, the authors are going to examine the drivers for complex CSR phenomenon. Further, in the second part, they will take an indepth look at some global companies, which have been under fire for some of their corporate, social, and environmental practices. Finally, the authors will provide an overview of CSR's impact on social development with special emphasis on Serbia.

In the last decades, the never-ending and unlimited expanding of both international economies and operations became globalization. Among its main features, one could recall the enormous increase of world macroeconomic quantities (Gross World Product, Inter-continental Trade, FDI), as well as financial values (public debts and currency printing). The chapter tries to quantify them, by a statistical analysis of historical data (Section 1). Section 2 is dedicated to the strategic problems of firms, in particular the threats and opportunities for (inter) national firms willing to become global, and obstacles are included in Section 3. This given, it deals with the behavior of countries from the political and juridical points of view, and those ones passed form initial perplexities, distaste, or even hostility to a favorable behavior. Conclusions (Section 4) recall both the problematic alternative for globalized companies between "the world as our next door" and their social responsibilities and the similar problem for host countries, between socioeconomic advantages and protection of local workers, resources, and environment.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The goal of the paper is to explain the essence of megatrends, to show global trends most often perceived as megatrends, and also to present some implications of these phenomena. Renata Pęciak a megatrend. Megatrends have the nature of permanent trends that in a growing degree permeate all areas of human life. Megatrends increase complexity, uncertainty and risk and accelerate feedback within and between economic, social, political, technological and environmental systems. Therefore it is necessary to monitor and assess these phenomena. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Prediction of megatrends can be an important element of the potential of an organisation, the key to economic decision-making, as well as for planning and building the strategy on different levels of economic and social area, from micro to global level. However research of megatrends is associated, among others, with the problems resulting from ambiguous classification, dynamic character of these phenomena, uncertainty they are accompanied by, and also application of an adequate research method. It is important to contribute to the development of a more innovative research agenda for effective projection of megatrends.

The continuation of the war in Ukraine and the appearance of the BRICS+ have consolidated some critical issues that appeared at the beginning of the war, including the rise in the prices of energy and food raw materials. In global markets, companies are nowadays exposed to a fierce competition and new socio-environmental forces on a vast scale. For global companies, the ongoing geopolitical changes increase corporate and network profit risks, but also represent new, great opportunities for corporate management on long-term trends.

Annals of Spiru …, 2011

Today's discussions on globalization are more alive and controversial. As is acknowledged as a fact, globalization is studied not only as an economic category but as a process, system, phenomenon. Currently, on international level, a variety of companies operate. From all of these, the transnational corporation represent particular interest, being designated as an "entity-key of global economic activity, a creative net worth to devote a large proportion of global resources needed to sustain economic growth processes. The new trend in the TNC's sites emphasize, efforts to promote corporate social responsibility that contributes to change the attitude of many corporations and individuals working for them. Company efforts are visible in contributions to community development and environmental impact. Corporations want to impose their own standards of development, which reflects some positive attitude towards regulations that support behavioral codes, which they argue. Globalization has opened the way for limited progress, offered alternatives to local development, has generated deep changes, n dimensional complex with sometimes unpredictable consequences on economic and socio-institutional development.

CURRENT SCIENCE, 2024

Business Ethics Quarterly, 2009

This article assesses some of the implications of globalization for the scholarly debate on business ethics, CSR and related concepts. The argument is based, among other things, on the declining capacity of nation state institutions to regulate socially desirable corporate behavior as well as the growing corporate exposure to heterogeneous social, cultural and political values in societies globally. It is argued that these changes are shifting the corporate role towards a sphere of societal governance hitherto dominated by traditional political actors. This leads to a discussion of the ambivalent results of such a process for a responsible corporate role in a globalized world. While assessing the current reception these changes have received in the management literature, the contributions ofthe four articles in this Special Issue are framed and evaluated. The argument closes by highlighting avenues of future research on this new challenge. INTRODUCTION: GLOBALIZATION AS A CHALLENGE FOR BUSINESS RESPONSIBILITIES G LOBALIZATION CAN BE UNDERSTOOD as the intensification of social interrelations among distant locations (Beck 2000; Giddens 1990). This process is initiated by political decisions such as the reduction of tariffs and non-tariff barriers to the exchange of goods, technology, capital, services, and labor, and the opening of markets through liberalization and deregulation policies. It is further accelerated by political upheavals (e.g., the fall of the Iron Curtain) and by technological advancements in communication, media, and transport, and is accompanied by socio-cultural processes such as increasing cross-border migration, the erosion of traditions, growing individualization, and the emergence of pluralist societies with heterogeneous values, cultures and lifestyles (Cohen and Kennedy 2000). As a result national borders and geographic distances are losing their economic and political significance (Schölte 2005). The regulatory power of nation state governance is fading, and received values and traditions are eroding (Habermas 2001). As a consequence global business firms operate in a complex and uncertain environment with gaps in regulation and ill-defined rules of appropriate business conduct (Scherer and Palazzo 2008a). The globalization of society erodes established ideas about the division of labor between the political and economic spheres, and calls for a fresh view concerning

Journal of Business and Social Sciences Research, 2023

In today's interconnected and dynamic global business environment, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has emerged as a crucial paradigm for organisations seeking sustainable success, and the role of business firms transcends traditional profit-centric models. As businesses go global, the ethical and social implications of their operations become increasingly significant, and their impact extends far beyond financial metrics. Nepalese studies also show that firms’ CSR activities influence several business aspects including customer satisfaction and purchasing decisions, as well as the firm’s reputation and profitability. This write-up delves into the evolving landscape of CSR in the context of a highly interconnected and globalised business environment.
