Apple Music is an ad-free streaming music service that lets you listen to millions of songs from the Apple Music catalogue in addition to your music library. As a subscriber, you can listen anytime — online or off, create your own playlists, stream and download lossless and Dolby Atmos audio files, get personalised recommendations, see music your friends are listening to, watch exclusive video content, and more.

Subscribe to Apple Music

1. Go to the Music app on your Mac.

2. Choose Account > Join Apple Music, then follow the onscreen instructions.

   You may be asked to sign in to your Apple Account. If you don’t have an Apple Account, you can create one during setup.

New subscribers can start a trial and cancel at any time. If you end your Apple Music subscription, you can no longer stream Apple Music songs or play Apple Music songs you downloaded.

About your Apple Music subscription

After you become an Apple Music subscriber, you can:

• Stream recommended songs on up to 10 computers and devices

• Select artists as favourites to receive notifications about them and easily find their music

• Download songs so that you can play them even when you’re not online

• Access your music library on all your devices

• Pin your favourite music to the top of your library

• Play Apple Music radio — stations created by experts that you can listen to all day

• Listen to music together using SharePlay on a FaceTime call

• Play and download songs in lossless audio and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos

• Create an Apple Music profile and then share music with friends; you can also find and follow friends to see what they’re listening to

• Allow third-party apps to access Apple Music, such as a third-party speaker app

• Use AutoPlay to automatically add similar songs to the end of the queue

Even if you don’t subscribe to Apple Music, you can purchase items from the iTunes Store and add music to your library. To learn how to add other content, see Buy or download music from the iTunes Store and Import songs from CDs.

Cancel or change your Apple Music subscription

1. Go to the Music app on your Mac.

2. Click the My Account button (looks like a photo or monogram) in the bottom-left corner of the window, click Account Settings, then sign in to your Apple Account, if required.

3. In the Manage section, click Manage next to Subscriptions.

4. Click Edit next to Apple Music or Apple One, then do one of the following:

   • Cancel: Click Cancel Subscription, then follow the onscreen instructions.

   • Change: Choose another plan or click Choose Individual Services, then follow the onscreen instructions.

If you’re not a subscriber, you can use Music to play music synced to your Mac from an iPhone or a Windows device, play and download previous iTunes Store purchases and play Apple Music radio for free.
