Tasmanian CHAPTER
Our Chapter conducts several activities across the state to advance the interests of our members and the profession while also engaging the broader community of Tasmania.
Our committees organise different events such as the Tasmanian Architecture Awards, Open House Hobart, and networking opportunities for graduates, promote significant 20th century buildings, and develop policies to promote sustainability in the industry.
The Tasmanian Chapter recognises the muwinina people as traditional land owners of the site on which our office stands. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
Holiday Closure:
Our Chapter office will be closed over the holiday break from Wednesday, 24 December 2025 and re-opening on Monday, 12 January 2026.
2024 Tasmanian State Election
The Tasmanian Chapter of the Institute is alerting all political parties in the coming election to the challenges and how they can be met, which we articulate in our 2024 State Election Priorities statement.
The priorities for Tasmania are opportunities the architecture profession can address for both immediate benefits and longer term enablers for a strong and sustainable Tasmania.
Our members nationally and in Tasmania recognise that we are at the crossroads of our long term environmental, economic, social and cultural wellbeing.
The challenges we face include climate change, declining housing affordability, population growth, urban sprawl and sustaining a vibrant economy.
Our priorities for Tasmania focus on opportunities the architecture profession proposes will create immediate benefits and longer term enablers for a strong and sustainable Tasmania. This can be achieved though well-considered design of our built environment and support for the Tasmania built environment industry that delivers this.
