Taylormade Sim 2 Max Overview

An upgrade to some of the most popular irons of all time in the Sim Max Irons.

The Sim 2 again comes in the Sim 2 Max and Sim 2 Max OS formats with the OS having more forgiveness and more forgiving lofts.

The big upgrade in the Sim 2 Maxes is the multi material cap back ™ cavity filler which dampens vibrations and promotes more forgiveness in the clubs

The CG is placed low in the clubs with artificial intelligence and promotes higher launching strokes with enhanced stopping power.

The fully enclosed echo camping system makes the irons feel like forged with unrivaled forgiveness.

Progressive ICT and the Thru Slot Speed pocket enhance the size of the sweet spot and these irons are right at the top of the market in terms of performance.

Ping G425 Irons Overview

After not releasing any new irons in 2020, Ping were back with a bang in 21 with their brand new G425’s which face a tough challenge in improving on the G410’s which cam before them.

The fact the performance of both of these irons is almost identical we see that the improvement has come from reducing the size of the club face which will allow for more control for those mid handicap players who have more consistency in their strokes.

These clubs are exceptionally workability and that is entirely evident when it comes to the shorter irons.

Tungsten weighting, including a visible screw in the head keep the CG low on the irons for high launch and far reaching shots.

The flexible hinge at the back of the club promotes more forgiveness and the thick soles ensure consistent bombs with the longer irons where a draw or fade can also be added for the better players.

We would recommend the Sim 2 Max or Sim Maxes for higher handicap players and the Ping G425’s maybe better for Mid Handicappers looking to work the ball a bit more, but it would be a very close call.

The Sim 2’s are the slightly better irons but be sure to try both out before committing to a purchase.
