TECHNICS SX K 700
via this auction "Heavy duty steel chassis, pcm technology, with efects, drums, 128 patches, aftertouch (a must have), and built in sequencer. Not at all bad for 1985" I'm guessing there's no extensive synth editing on this one. If anyone knows, feel free to comment or let me know. My contact info is on the bottom right of the site. Note Technics actually did create a couple of full blown synthesizers, the WSA1 and the SY-1010. You can find both in the archives via the Technics label below. Update via MiK in the comments: "Just added the repair photos to my page about this thing - which is still quite imcomplete." LABELS/MORE: Technics10 comments:

What a fun. I have one of those myself. The enclosure is plastic, just the bottom is steel - very common.Besides this, is't not a real synthesizer, but an entertainer keyboard. And it definitely doesn't have aftertouch.Anyway - nice decoration. If i would dare to lie about it so much in the internet auction, i would have sold it for quite a long time, but if you tell the truth, you get nearly nothing for it...

I wonder if by aftertouch he meant velocity sensitivity. I know some manufacturers used to do that. That always annoyed me actually as they are two completely separate things.

It doesn't even have velocity. It uses nearly the same keyboard like the Korg Poly-61 - i think, this keyboard is made by Panasonic. Aren't Panasonic and Technics both daughters of Matsushita?

I stumbled on this page as I was searching for some info on the TECHNICS SX K 700 that I have. I am trying to find out if this keyboard has a master tuning control somewhere. My keyboard has gone out of tune in relation to other instruments. One week, the keyboard sounded ok when I played with my bandmates. The next week I played with my bandmates, the keyboard sounded off tune, even when I played the same notes as the week before. Adjusting the pitch control did not help. Any advice you can give to tune the keyboard would be appreciated. Thank you.

This thing is fully digital, so there is not much room for tuning. I just had a short look, i don't even find the pitch control you mentioned. Did you mean the transpose next to the volume slider? If not, check if this helps.I don't know it this thing has a master reset, there are some hidden functions on the keyboard, which are sometimes hard to guess without a manual, maybe there also is a "master tune" or a "factory init" somewhere.Electronically, i don't see a reason for a detune besides maybe an xtal oscillator no longer working properly. Usually, an xtal fails completely, but who knows... This thing is a simple ROMpler, so there is just one clock for the whole playback, maybe the whole system, the rest is software, usually controlling some counters for the sample output, all this is likely hidden in one of the chips.I didn't use the machine since i fixed it and i don't have any schematics or manual, so it's hard to help, i can just wildly guess, but maybe it gives some inspiration :)
