ifo is not a real video file, .vob is a real video file.

Therefore, we should convert vob to mp4.

I usually use a software named iDealshare VideoGo to do this job.

In fact, it can convert between various video formats and audio formats.

Thank you for your outstanding instructions. Can you explain what we can do with an IFO converted to MP4? Is this MP4 playable on PC? Is it required to play DVD on PC?

If your IFO files are long with VOB and BUP files in the VIDEO_TS folder, the converted MP4 file should be playable on PC. And yes, IFO files are required to play DVDs.

Dear Hunk, thanks for your fast reply! Sorry, I do not understand why I need the IFO on PC in MP4 format. If I have all VOB (video files) together with the IFO files copied to the PC I can play the DVD for example with Power DVD from Cyberlink.

No, you don’t need IFO files in MP4. I mean you need the IFO files along with VOB and BUP so as to CONVERT IFO to MP4.

Sorry, I do not understand: why should I want to convert the IFO to MP4? Is there any advantage for this format? As long as I know, the MP4 – IFO cannot be played like a video file.

You don’t always have to. However, MP4 can be much smaller and more compatible with other devices like your phone.
