Reasonable Adjustments - can we help make it easier for you to access your healthcare?

The Equality Act 2010, states that all health and social care providers, such as hospitals and GP surgeries must take steps in order to remove barriers that individuals with disabilities may face.

If you have, or you support someone who has, a physical or mental impairment, then you can make changes, often small ones, to help care for yourself or that person. This is known as a Reasonable Adjustment.

Reasonable Adjustments can include:

  • making sure there is good access for people who use a wheelchair in GP surgeries and hospitals
  • providing plain English or easy to read appointment letters
  • having a quiet space available for people waiting for their appointment
  • helping to complete NHS forms

These are just some of the many adjustments that exist, but there are many more that may be specific to you or to someone you care for.

If you need a Reasonable Adjustment then please let us know so we can do everything we can to make things easier for you. Speak to a member of the practice team or a clinician during your appointment to let us know what Reasonable Adjustment you require and if you are happy for us to put these on your records here at the practice. By doing so everyone will know what you need.

We would also like to know if it would be permitted for us to share you adjustments with further NHS teams and social care, to help inform them of what Reasonable Adjustments you might need when you see them.

You can also let us know by completing and returning this form to our reception team or by emailing [email protected]

Travelling Abroad?

If you're off on the adventure of a lifetime, planning to visit that destination you've always dreamt of, or travelling for that important business meeting, have you considered what vaccinations you might need first? Some countries even require you to provide proof of vaccination against some of the common diseases before entering the country.

To protect yourself against serious disease it is important to find out what vaccines you might need depending on your destination. Some of these vaccines are free on the NHS, but some you will have to pay for. It's important to seek the right advice before travelling and to ensure you speak to a trained travel nurse well in advance of your trip. We recommend booking an appointment at least 6-8 weeks prior to your travel date. This is to make sure that the right vaccines can be ordered and adminstered to you before you travel.

If you're unsure whether you need to be vaccinated before your trip you can click the link below and check your destination(s). If you find you do need to be vaccinated then book an appointment with our travel nurse today.
