WARM- UP Happy Feelings →Key: sad , happy, excited , bored , frightened, upset, confused, etc.. 1.If you got bad marks, how would you feel? 2. If you made a mistake, how would you feel? →Lead in : Today, we’ll get to know more about the things that have happened to you that influence the way you think and behave. It is “Personal experiences Brainstorming -T asks Ss to find suitable words to fill in the chart below: -T asks Ss some questions to lead in the reading. -To create warm atmosphere and to lead to the new lesson 10ms 8ms B. PRE- READING ? Embarrassing / embarrassed (a) : (example) I feel embarrassed when I make mistakes. There was an embarrassing experience that I have got since last year. ? To make a fuss (translation ): làm ầm lên ? To reply = answer ( synonym) ? To imitate ( translation) / 'imiteit / bắt chước ? Glance at s.th: (miming): Liếc mắt nhìn ? Sneaky: /'sni:ki / (adj) ( transnlation) hành vi lén lút ? Idol: (n) (situation) Do you knowNỹ Tâm and Đan Trường ? They are famous singers. They are becoming the idols of teenagers. Task 1: Fill in the blanks in the sentences →KEY: 1. glanced 2. making a fuss 3. embarrassing 4. idols 5. sneaky Pre- teach vocabulary - Writes these words on the board - Use s some techniques to elicit vocabulary - Reads model and ask Ss to repeat chorally Checking vocabulary -T asks Ss to do task 1 on page 24. -Ss work individually. - T gives feedback. -To enlarge vocabulary for Ss -To make sure that Ss use the target language. 13ms C. WHILE-READING Task 3: Questions and answers. 1. What did the girl wish to have when she was in grade 9? ’ The girl wishes to have a red floppy cotton hat when she was in grade 9. 2. Why did her father give her some money on her birthday? ’ So that she could buy the hat for herself / To buy the hat for herself. 3. What did she see in the boy’s bag? ’ She saw a wad of dollar notes exactly like the ones her father had given her before. 4. Why did she decide to take the money from the boy’s bag without saying anything about it? ’. Because she didn’t like to make a fuss. 5. What did she do with the money? ’ She bought the hat with it. -T gives instructions -Ss work in pairs 7ms C. POST- READING T: Asks Ss to work in groups to discuss the question : “What do you think the girl had to do after she discovered that the money she had taken from the boy’s bag was not hers?” Elicit: · Put up a notice on the school board. · Get on the same bus the next day and look for the boy to return the money to him. · Do nothing. · Keep it a secret. · Ask her father for advice. -T gves instructions. -Ss work in groups of four -Tgives feedback, correction and marks. 2ms E. HOMEWORK · Learn new words. · Prepare for the speaking lesson. · Do exercise in your handout.
