  • Yas46October 19, 2025 at 9:08 AMLovely castle with interactive exhibits insideThun castle was lovely to visit for a couple of hours. Yes it is fairly bare on the inside but each floor has exhibits and digital interactive boards to either explain the exhibits and to try out some of the ancient ways of doing things. It is very well maintained and each of the 4 turrets give great view onto the town. Easy parking nearby...we visited the castle first and then went into town.More
  • summeredwardssSeptember 23, 2025 at 10:43 AMDifferent type of castleQuite different to the castles I have visited but maybe that's what i enjoyed so much about it, a good visit with lots of interesting information outside, the temporary exhibition was good too.More
  • BethRodioJuly 20, 2025 at 3:17 PMMust see in ThunThis was a great way to get some history of the area. Even if you just go to get the scenic views from the turrets, it’s worth itMore
  • 992vikisSeptember 28, 2024 at 6:14 PMThun Castle is a beautiful medieval castle.Thun Castle was built beginning in the 1200s. It is a very beautiful castle that has been added to over the years. You can climb into the towers and see the intricately built interior of the castle.More
  • sensslSeptember 26, 2024 at 1:05 PMGreat museum! This 5-story museum within the Thun Castle was so interesting! There were incredibly well-preserved tapestries and other artifacts, many from the 1400s. The signage was in German, French, and English. The top floor, where you could see the structure of the wooden roof, as well as a video showing the techniques that were used to build it, was fascinating. There were great views of the city from the turrets. I would definitely recommend this museum!More
  • RDCononverAugust 25, 2024 at 5:18 AMInteresting Exhibits / Great ViewsI’m one who does not pass up a visit to castle or a blimp to the top of a tower. The castle administration was reasonable at 10CHF (I skipped the add on pottery exhibition). There are many interesting art exhibits through the 4 or 5 floors of the castle along with historical information about the castle. The construction aspects were fascinating, the wood at the top is over 600 years old. There are several exhibits on the construction of the roof along with the history of the building which has changed little since the 1400’s (new roof, addition of a level, etc) but the essential elements are the same. A great visit for an hour or two.More
  • DCRedhat14August 9, 2024 at 1:30 AMNo service dogs allowedCan't comment on the inside: they would not allow our trained service dog into the castle. Guess if you are blind you are expected to walk into a wall, or a sword, or fall down stairs. Or if you have another medical condition, well, good luck.More
  • SMTPACJuly 11, 2024 at 3:03 AMA great morning in a stunning settingBeautiful castle - light filled, not too big, stunning views from the tower. Cafe had delicious pretzel, nice drink selection- a great setting. We enjoyed the art exhibit too.More
  • 112marionmJuly 9, 2024 at 10:46 AMImposing castleAn imposing castle which is worth the visit. It is quite a hike up but well worth the amazing views from the top. It is good fun to walk up the smaller towers on the corners to access the large central tower on each floor. Interesting video about carpentry also on showMore
