Thunder-ten-tronckh, a fictitious city-state in Westphalia, Germany, is the homeland of the title character in the French novel Candide (1759) by Voltaire.

Thunder-ten-tronckh was a castle in Westphalia, renowned throughout Europe for its biennial jousting tournament. One day in the 1300s, Magister Stephen de Windesore attended the tournament, to study the coats of arms of the many participating knights.
