#1 · Mar 13, 2020 I've been all over the Internet looking for answers and have had no luck. The Silicium movement according to Tissot's website is C07.811. Searching for that movement I came across the following: Within the Powermatic family of movement's there are -thus far- three different levels; C07.1XX; these have a synthetic escapement. (This is what some people refer to as "plastic parts") C07.6XX; these have a regular escapement. (Ok, cool!) C07.8XX; these have a silicon balance spring (Silicon balance spring and regular escapement or is it synthetic escapement with a silicone balance spring?) This is where things get confusing. The regular Seastar movement according to Tissot is the Powermatic 80.111 but yet the Silicium movement (which I think is the same movement but with a silicone balance spring) model is the C07.811? The 80.111 features 23 Jewels The C07.811 features 25 jewels. Is it safe to assume the additional 2 jewels on the Silicium model is for the pallet fork? I'm just trying to figure out if I'm getting a regular escapement and silicon balance spring for roughly $155.00 more? On Tissot's site the T1204071104101 is described with both movements. I also do not know if it is a mistake or not but on the back of the case in the pictures it says "chronometer". #4 · Mar 13, 2020 Powermatic 80 is just Tissot's (and Certina and Mido which are managed by the same group) marketing name for the ETA C07 movement. The "Powermatic 80" is the C07.111 with the synthetic "high tech" escapement while the "Powermatic 80 Silicium" is the C07.811 with the silicon balance spring. Just like the 2824 it is based on, it comes in several grades: standard, elabore, top, and chronometer. Chronometer grade movements are COSC certified and are marked as such, usually on the movement itself, the watch dial, and an additional hang tag. #5 · Mar 13, 2020 Thank you for this. I'm going to go ahead and place the order for the Silicium model. Show more replies 0 Reply This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread.
