Tokyo Revengers Announce Spinoff Focused On Toman's Keisuke

A Tokyo Revengers spinoff manga is set to debut later this summer.

According to the franchise's Twitter account, the first chapter Tokyo Revengers ~Baji Keisuke Kara no Tegami~ (A Letter from Keisuke Baji) will appear in this year's 35th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on July 27, and the story will focus on primarily on the characters Keisuke Baji and Chifuyu Matsuno, the leaders of the Tokyo Manji Gang's first division. Yukinori Kawaguchi is penning the story under the supervision of series creator Ken Wakui.

Wakui's ongoing Tokyo Revengers manga began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2017, and it has produced 28 volumes worth of content, so far. The story follows Takemichi Hanagaki, a twenty-something burnout who is transported back in time to his junior high school days. Leveraging his knowledge of the future, he plans to correct his previous mistakes and save the life of his childhood sweetheart, Hinata Tachibana, by infiltrating the Tokyo Manji gang.

With over 50 million copies in circulation around the world, Tokyo Revengers is Kodansha's most successful series since Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan, which remains one of the best-selling manga of all time with more than 100 million copies sold. Thanks to Seven Seas Entertainment, Tokyo Revengers finally received a physical release in English when a limited edition collection became available in Barnes and Noble stores in the United States and Canada earlier this year.

Liden Films, the studio behind Tribe Nine and the recently announced Rurouni Kenshin reboot, has adapted Wakui's story into an anime series. Directed by Koichi Hatsumi (Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King) and written by Yasuyuki Mutō (Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway), the first season premiered in April 2021 and the second season is scheduled to debut in January 2023, which will kick off with a depiction of the manga's Christmas Showdown arc.

The Tokyo Revengers anime stars Yūki Shin (Edens Zero) as Takemichi and Azumi Waki (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) as Hinata alongside Masaaki Mizunaka (How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord) as Keisuke and Shō Karino (Ascendance of a Bookworm) as Chifuyu. The new season will introduce several new characters, including Inui Seisyu, voiced by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's Junya Enoki, and Kokonoi Hajime, played by The Case Study of Vanitas's Natsuki Hanae.
