Facebook signed a lease for a whopping 1.5 million square feet of space across three Hudson Yards buildings in November 2019, and other notable office tenants include Apple, WarnerMedia, BlackRock, KKR, Wells Fargo, L’Oreal USA, and Tapestry (parent company of Coach, Kate Spade, and Stuart Weitzman). Also in the area, Pfizer was the first signed tenant at the Bjarke Ingels-designed Spiral. Some have questioned how the economic downturn and closing of offices would affect Hudson Yards; however, high vaccination rates have allowed the companies to announce return-to-work dates. In remarks on Hudson Yards’ opening day, Senator Chuck Schumer noted that the extension of the 7 train to Eleventh Avenue was a key part of the development. The A/C/E lines, the Port Authority bus terminal, Penn Station, several bus lines, and an intermodal ferry terminal at 40th Street are also located within walking distance. But for those who wish to walk to work, we present new buildings on the rise as well as the top 10 rentals currently welcoming residents. An official completion date has not been provided, but some are guessing 2022. Construction on the L-shaped tower topped out at 60 stories high in winter 2021, and a glass facade designed by FXCollaborative is on the way up. The project will have 931 apartments and amenities are to include resident lounges, dog grooming, storage, parking for 186 cars and 467 bicycles, a 6th-floor terrace with an outdoor pool, and another terrace on the 40th floor adjacent to a lounge and a library. Completion is estimated for 2023. The tower will stand beside 606 West 30th Street, a separate soaring 42-story rental high-rise designed by Ismael Leyva Architects that will host 252 apartments.
