当時の後漢の交趾郡太守蘇定が、有力者であった徴側（チュン・チャク）の夫を殺したことを引き金に、チャクは妹の弐（ニ）と共に立ち上がったと言われている。 徴側は六十五もの城をたちまちに支配下に置き、王位についた。しかし後漢の皇帝はこの乱の平定に馬援（三国志の馬超の祖先）を送り込む。 徴姉妹は奮闘するが、劣勢と見た領主たちに見捨てられる形で、最終的に敗北。 その結末は、斬首されたとも、二人で手を繋いで川に身を投げたとも、雲に昇っていったとも言われている。

NA Localization: Hai Bà Trưng, or the Trưng sisters, were the leaders of the rebel army that fought against the Later Han Dynasty's rule during the first century AD. When Trưng Trắc's husband, an influential leader himself, was killed by Su Ding, the Giao Chỉ governor-general, Trắc and her younger sister, Nhị, became central figures in the fight against the Dynasty's rule. Trưng Trắc quickly took over sixty-five citadels and claimed the throne. However, the Emperor of the Later Han sent Ma Yuan (an ancestor of Ma Chao of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms") to suppress the rebellion. Though Hai Bà Trưng fought valiantly, they were ultimately defeated after the feudal lords abandoned them after beginning to see them as the losing side. In the final moments of their lives, some say the sisters were beheaded. Some say they threw themselves into the river, holding hands. And some even say they ascended into the clouds.

It is said that the influential Trưng Trắc, triggered by the murder of her husband by Giao Chỉ (Jiaozhi) District Governor - Su Ding, rose up against them with her younger sister Trưng Nhị. Trưng Trắc swiftly took over 65 strongholds and ascended to the throne. However, the Emperor of Eastern Han Dynasty sent Ma Yuan (ancestor of Ma Chao of the Three Kingdoms) to suppress the rebellion.
