Thank you for purchasing the VK40 metaldetector from VIKING. This is one of a familyof microprocessor driven metal detectorsthat are very simple to use yet provide excellent performance.Please take time to read this booklet. It will guideyou through each of the available features toensure you get the best out of your detector.
Getting Started
1. Unpack The DetectorThere are two main sections. The 'S' shaft, ontowhich is mounted the control box, and the lowershaft with the search head. Note the spring button near the end of the lower shaft.2. Assemble The DetectorSlide the lower shaft into the 'S' shaft, wrappingthe cable snugly, but not tightly, round the shaft.When correctly aligned the spring button on thelower shaft will click into 1 of the 3 holes on theunderside of the 'S' shaft.3. Tighten the couplingTurn the coupling to the 'lock' position as indicated by the arrow. This makes a rigid connection between the two parts of the shaft.4. Insert BatteryThe detector takes a single PP3 (alkaline) 9Vbattery. This is placed in the battery compartment on the rear of the control box.ENSURE THE BATTERY IS INSERTED THECORRECT WAY ROUNDPush the drawer back into the detector until itclicks. Please note the drawer can only be inserted the one way.
Your detector is now ready for use
To disassemble the detector, loosen the couplingby turning it against the arrow and push in thespring button. The lower shaft will now slide outfrom the 'S' shaft.1. Detector Display2. On / Off Key3. Menu Down / Motion Key4. Pinpoint / Retune Key5. Menu Up / All-Metal / Non-Motion Key6. Menu Key
