After an endless search for a fix of Xming's broken clipboard or for an alternative X-server on Windows I found VcXsrv. Finally copy and paste works fine between Linux and Windows. I can only recommend it. Thank you for the great work. rkesiar vs

As a non-programmer of X display software I cannot judge the code, etc., so I can only really review as a user - ie, ease of use, documentation, etc. The software may be a technical marvel, but if key features/functionality do not work, there is no documentation available on said feature(s), and no answers from the developers for most/all questions posted - some as long as 2-3 years ago... then it doesn't really matter how awesome the software may be in other ways. There is little to no documentation of anything for this windows X server. A major show-stopper for usability of this software for me is the problem of the mouse cursor disappearing while it is over the remote X window/application regardless of which type of launch you do. The mouse works fine elsewhere in Windows but as soon as you place it over any part of the X window, it vanishes, making it useless for myself or more importantly for my wife who I am trying to set remote access to an X/Linux app up for. (for the record, I'm trying to use it to run virt-manager remotely from a Windows 7 system). The remote X display rendering is horribly slow, and it is not due to lack of display/GL/drawing or any other video card hardware capability on the client side. No need to provide specs of the video cards on the client as I am not trying to impress anyone. Remote display on the same client FLIES running Linux and SPICE. Obviously, remote X display != SPICE, but if there was any documentation, support, or even semi-intelligent discussion of problems with this software available or evident otherwise I could read it and try to work through the problems. With basically nobody's questions about ANYTHING related to this software answered for a period of years, I would be a fool to expect things to be any different for any questions I post. Thanks but I'll try something else to accomplish what I need. Have spent enough time on this approach. burgerworld

  • ozkanpakdil Posted 2022-02-19 before connecting to remote export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0 and in ssh use "-XY" parameters 1 user found this review helpful.
  • asharlohmar Posted 2022-01-02 It does it's job. I'm using it with WSL. Thanks to the devs.
  • ayanamist Posted 2021-11-01 Wonderful project, better than X410
  • danielgass Posted 2021-10-25 Great work. Thanks a lot.

  • yantom56 Posted 2021-05-21 Simple and works, love it.
  • riteshs7 Posted 2020-10-20 Very good
  • tensility Posted 2020-05-30 相比xming胜在免费,功能也挺好用没什么大问题。
  • neopku Posted 2020-02-29 Great project
  • curtmcd Posted 2019-08-17 Copy/paste from X to Windows was not working with Xming. That's how I found VcXsrv. It works perfectly and is configured using an XLaunch very similar to Xming's.
  • jelek21 Posted 2019-07-18 Way more up to date than the free version of Xming, light and giving you all the features you could possibly want. I love it!
  • loplex Posted 2019-02-27 👍👍👍👍👍
  • fei4xu Posted 2019-02-14 I use it together with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) as recommended from www.cs.odu.edu/~zeil/FAQs/Public/win10Bash/. It works very well!
  • rounaksingh17 Edited 2019-01-23 No problem installing. Works like a charm in win10. I am using VcXsrv for gui applications on win10. Great up to date project. Thanks marha!
  • maurices Posted 2018-12-01 Setup is a breeze, and it works like a charm for old (early 2000-s) as well as new X Clients...
  • slimerang Posted 2018-08-04 This is the best X server I've used for Windows 10. Thanks!
  • yair123 Posted 2018-04-15 this is the best Xserver i used in the last years. Xming has problems with copy/paste and become impossible to work with EMACS editor using windows. This server solved the problem definitively . i used for year CYGWIN due this issue but it's very heavy system and difficult to make the configuration only to use the XSERVER. This X was the best solution and work excellent in new windows 10 .
  • mgraffx Posted 2018-04-12 Works as expected. No issues after using for the past 4 months. Setup was easy.
  • msoropidis Posted 2018-02-04 After using it VcXsrv for years, I can really say that VcXsrv is by far better than the any other xserver I've used on windows.
  • wizek Posted 2017-11-21 Wow! This project has enabled me to launch and use GUI Linux apps on Windows through WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). I've created this account just to write this 5 star review!
  • scsirob1 Posted 2017-05-30 This is one very handy piece of software, I use it to run Eclipse from a Linux box on my Windows desktop. It used to work well, but right now the VcXsrv program disappears after about 30 seconds. Not sure if this is due to a recent Windows 10 update, but would love to help fix it if I can.
