Viewpoint: Noel Clarke stars in ITV teaser

Viewpoint continues tonight (Tuesday, April 27) at 9pm on ITV and viewers want to know everything they possibly can about the cast of the new series. Express.co.uk spoke with the cast of Viewpoint alongside other press to find out everything there is to know about the characters in the gripping drama.

Who is in the cast of Viewpoint?

DC Martin Young - Noel Clarke

BAFTA-winning actor Noel Clarke takes on the role of DC Martin Young in Sky's Bulletproof.

Martin Young is a police surveillance officer, who has some deep trauma of his own he is trying to hide.

Clarke is best known for his role as Aaron Bishop in Bulletproof and Sam in the films Kidulthood, Adulthood and Brotherhood.

He will star in the upcoming Sky Cinema film SAS: Red Notice, appearing alongside Sam Heughan, Ruby Rose, Hannah John Kamen and Tom Hopper.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press about the character of DC Martin Clarke, Noel said: "It’s a character that resonated with me because he had the trauma and then afterwards he was so considered and so still. If you know me, I’m the least still person you’ll ever meet!

"For me to try and inhabit someone who I thought was the opposite of me in terms of he really thought about what he was going to do and really thought about what he was going to say and used to be instinctual but then after the trauma, he kind of really went into himself and became this different person and I just thought it was something I had never been considered for before and something I'd never done and that's what really made me want to do it."

He added: “Just meeting Zoe (played by Alexandra Roach), she’s like a whirlwind to him and just intrigued him in a way that he used a bit more free when he used to work with Hayley before.

"I think that just intrigues him and pulls him in. It kind of pulls him back out of his shell in a weird way.”

Zoe Sterling - Alexandra Roach

Welsh actress Alexandra Roach portrays Zoe Sterling in Viewpoint on ITV.

Zoe living room window is being used as a surveillance point by police as the view gives a great view into the home of murder suspect, Greg Sullivan (Fehinti Balogun)

However, Zoe is a secret voyeur and a close friend of Gemma, the woman who has gone missing.

Speaking about her character Zoe, Roach said: "Zoe’s been waiting for something like this, an exciting chapter in her life, to happen for years.

"She's a hard-working, single mum with a 10-year-old child so she goes to work and looks after her child. She's just missing that excitement really.

“When [Martin] turns up with his kid and everything she feels alive again and she invites him in and I just really enjoyed the complexities of that.

“She’s flawed and she’s messy and that really contradicted what energy he brings into her flat and she's lived there for seven or eight years on her own just with Caitlin [her daughter] and to have this male energy in this small flat... it's exciting to watch them suss each other out because they are so different.

"He plays everything by the rules and he's buttoned up so tight he could pop and she's quite relaxed and likes to let her hair down and have a drink."

Viewers will most likely recognise Roach as Rhian in Killing Eve and Carrie in The Black Mirror episode Black Museum.

Greg Sullivan - Fehinti Balogun

Fehinti Balogun stars as Greg Sullivan in ITV's Viewpoint.

Greg is the boyfriend of Gemma, who is missing and believed to have been murdered.

He is the prime suspect over her disappearance and the man DC Martin Young is watching closely.

Speaking about the complexities of Greg, Balogun said: "When [he comes] out into the world, for Greg, it’s either ‘OK I can challenge this thing’ or I just have to deal with it.

"And he makes a choice to… not even deal with it, just let it happen. I think he finds it incredibly difficult.”

Balogun's credits include BBC's I May Destroy You and The Informer.

DC Stella Beckett - Bronagh Waugh

Bronagh Waugh stars as DC Stella Beckett in Viewpoint on ITV.

DC Beckett and DC Young work together on police surveillance and need each other more than they realise.

Waugh said: "Martin is very sensitive and measured and Stella is messy and fiery and feisty and rough around the edges.

"She's flawed. She sort of cuts corners with her job sometimes. She’s not perfect."

Waugh is best known for playing Cheryl Brady in the Hollyoaks and Jessica Reid in Unforgotten.

She recently starred in ITV's true-crime drama Des as Charlotte Proctor and played the role of Cathy in Derry Girls.

DC Hayley Jones - Shannon Murray

Shannon Murray stars as DC Hayley Jones, Noel's former detective partner in Viewpoint.

Murray is an Irish actress, writer, broadcaster, disability activist and lawyer.

Viewpoint viewers will most likely recognise Murray from her role as Sarah Jane-Spilsbury in EastEnders.

She is also well known for playing Mrs Baggott in BBC's Get Even.

Her other credits include Silent Witness, Casualty, Holby City and Class.

Gemma Hillman - Amy Wren

Amy Wren portrays missing primary school teacher Gemma Hillman in Viewpoint on ITV.

Gemma's disappearance is the case DC Noel Clarke and DC Stella Beckett are investigating.

Wren is well known for her role as Lady Evelyn Herbert in Guy Burt's TV mini-series Tutankhamun and Frances Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights.

Her other credits include Sallie Gardiner in Little Women and Mildrith in The Last Kingdom.
