Multiple Commonwealth Games gold medallist Vijay Kumar earned an Olympic quota place when he clinched the silver medal at the shooting World Cup in Fort Benning, US in May, 2011. It was his second silver at the shooting World Cups after clinching it before at Beijing in 2009.

Vijay Kumar came to limelight after he won an impressive three gold medals and a silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

The 2007 Arjuna awardee, Vijay though failed to fire the same magic in the next month's Asian Games in Guangzhou where he managed only two bronze medals.
