www.metaldetectors.co.ukMetal Detectors1 Angela StreetMill Hill, BlackburnBB2 4DJt: +44 (0)1254 55887f: +44 (0)1254 676901e: [email protected].ukUser ManualThank you for purchasing a VK-Series detector from VIKING.This is one of a familyof microprocessor driven metal detectorsthat are very simple to use yet provide excellent performance.The VK20 is a motionmetal detector and the VK30 also providesnon-motion operation,which assists with theaccurate pinpointing of targets.Please take time to read this booklet.It will guideyou through each of the available features toensure you get the best out of your detector.The term 'motion' used above simply means thesearch head needs to be kept moving in order todetect metal items.This allows the microprocessor to analyse the received signalsand discriminate against poor quality metals.When a suitable target is detected, an audible'beep' is heard either from the loudspeaker orheadphones (if connected).Getting Started1.Unpack The DetectorThere are two main sections.The 'S' shaft, ontowhich is mounted the control box, armrest anddetector stand, and the lower shaft with thesearch head.2.Assemble The DetectorNote the spring button clip protruding from nearthe top end of the lower shaft.Slide the lowershaft into the 'S' shaft, wrapping the cable snugly, but not tightly, round the shaft.When correctly aligned the spring button clip will clickinto 1 of the 3 holes in the 'S' shaft.3.Tighten the couplingTurn the coupling to the 'lock' position as indicated by the arrow.This makes a rigid connection between the two parts of the shaft.4.Insert BatteryThe detector takes a single PP3 (alkaline) 9Vbattery.This is placed in the battery compartment on the back of the control box.ENSURE THE BATTERY IS INSERTED THECORRECT WAY ROUNDPush the drawer back into the detector until itclicks.Please note the drawer can only be inserted the one way.VK20 Display Panel1.Off / On - Sensitivity Control2.Discrimination Control3.Detector Display4.Inland / Beach SwitchVK20 & VK3014132
