Her former mother-in-law and close friend, the famous shieldmaiden Lagertha, was murdered by Hvitserk days later.
Before Lagertha’s funeral, Torvi volunteered to die and accompany Lagertha on her way to Valhalla, which shocked viewers.
A Reddit user said: “Torvi was actually willing to kill her unborn baby and abandon her daughter.
“I know the scene was supposed to showcase Torvi’s loyalty to Lagertha…. but really.”
A second fan tweeted: “Okay wait this isn’t what I had in mind please not Torvi.”
A third fan commented: “My heart stopped beating when Torvi volunteered as tribute! #Vikings.”
Thankfully, the gods chose the shield maiden Gyda (Emma Willis) to sacrifice her life and Torvi remains alive, for now.
The absence of Lagertha leaves huge space for Torvi to step forward as Kattegat’s newest shieldmaiden.
Speaking in a recent interview, Hirst teased: “I kick so much a*** in this season, it’s crazy.
“There’s a lot of changing relationships, a lot of tears, a lot of killing, a lot of new faces.”

Vikings season 6: Who is actor Georgia Hirst?
Is Torvi based on a real Viking Queen?
Torvi is one of the few characters in Vikings that are not based on real Viking figures.
She is a completely fictional character, coming from the mind of show creator Michael Hirst.
Torvi’s current husband, Ubbe, is based on the ninth-century Viking Ubba, who was one of the commanders of the Great Heathen Army who invaded Anglo-Saxon England in the 860s.
Other characters in the show based on real Vikings include Bjorn Ironside, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen), Lagertha and Prince Oleg of Novgorod (Danila Kozlovsky).
