Vikings Star Breaks Down In Tears As She Watches Back Character Death

Vikings gave fans a shock when one of their major players was killed off unexpectedly in the latest episode.

Margrethe was one of the main shield maidens set to take over from Lagertha if anything were to happen to her.

Hungry for power, the former slave girl worked her way up the ranks to become one of the Queen’s right hand gals.

However, in season 5B she was quickly captured by Bjorn’s lot, and taken as a prisoner while they made plans to escape Kattegat.

As Lagertha, Bjorn, Torvi and Ubbe ran away, they left Margrethe for her death, tied up in a farm.

However, Hvitserk saved the slave girl and took her back to Kattegat where he pledged to keep her safe.

But when Ivar heard word that his former lover had returned, he ordered his guards to track her down, and killed his brother’s love interest in the dead of night.

Fans were left shocked at the sudden death – but not near as shocked as Margrethe star Ida Marie Nielsen, who took to her Instagram story in tears over her character’s death.

She said: ‘Good morning from Copenhagen, I just want to let you know that if you have not seen season five episode 12 please do not continue to watch my story.

‘This is a final warning if you have not watched the episode 12 in season five do not watch my story – have a nice day.’

After that, the 22-year-old continued: ‘Okay guys, you have obviously just watched episode 12 and what just happened?

‘That was really fast and now she’s just dead.’

Looks like there’ll be no resurrecting Margrethe.

The star added: ‘And I have actually been dead for two years now. Yeah, it is two years ago since I filmed that scene and I have been keeping this huge secret, and it feels so nice that you know now.

‘I am very sad that Margarethe had such a tragic death that was not her wish. But it was good, she’ll be fine, she will be fine where ever she is now.’

Pausing for a second, Ida started to get emotional as she wiped a tear away from her eye.

She said: ‘You are the best fans and you make me so happy. Really thank you so much.

‘Now I’m getting emotional. I don’t know why I’m filming it, it’s not very nice – Thanks guys, thank you.’

After her post, she then urged her followers to send in Vikings questions, as she joked there were no more spoilers for Margrethe.

‘I’m actually allowed to answer most things cause now Margrethe is dead, so I can share with you and not spoil anything which is really nice,’ she said.

‘Thank you for liking and following Margrethe, and being very passionate about the show.’
