"The world's most immersive Virtual Reality experience" is coming to Birmingham.

Otherworld is opening on Bennetts Hill - offering a range of VRgames including fighting zombies and going into space.

It will replace the short-lived Nocturnal Animals bar which closed in August 2019 less than a year after opening.

The Birmingham Bennett's Hill site will be Otherworld's first site outside the capital - with plans to open more venues in Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.

According to the website, Otherworld comprises of "16 VR experiences. Fight a zombie apocalypse deep in Arizona, go on an adventure through a magical garden world, or battle your friends from the cockpit of an immense mech - the possibilities abound!"

The award-winning brand first opened in east London in 2019 offering the "ultimate interactive gaming experience" - where players feel they are actually within a game rather just playing it on a console.

Since its 2019 launch, over 50,000 people have passed through its doors including celebrity fans such as singer Adele, rappers Skepta and KSI as well as TV star Jonathan Ross.

It won a design accolade at the Frame Award 2020 for successfully "creating a threshold from the physical world into the virtual. " The brand was also recently recognised in the TripAdvisor Traveller Choice Awards 2021.

Otherworld can host around 10 to 14 players at the same time -allowing gamers to play with their friends.

The website states: "Inside the Otherworld, you can see and hear each other in the form of a virtual avatar - as if they are right next to you! You are then free to explore the island and jump into a multiplayer game together, or break away from the group and try a solo adventure.

"If you find yourself hopping into a game you’re not too keen on you can hop right back to the island and find another - the only limit is your time!

Speaking earlier this year when announcing its plans to expand, Otherworld co-founder Chris Adams said: “We’ve seen overwhelming demand, despite the pandemic. People are seeking ever-greater levels of immersion, but through social experiences, they can enjoy with friends and family."

The new Birmingham venue will operate a late licence bar f rom 1 1am to 2am which non-gamers will be welcome to visit.

The website states:" During your experience, you'll earn DreamCoin, which you’ll be able to spend at the full-service bars nestled into our futuristic venues. Even if you don't have a VR experience booked you are welcome to visit us for a drink!"
