Moo Jin-Hyuk (Jang Hyuk) was a popular detective who solved major cases, but after his wife was murdered by a serial killer his life spiraled down. He is filled with guilt that he was not able to protect his wife and he secretly looks for her killer.
Meanwhile, Kang Kwon-Joo (Lee Ha-Na) graduated at police academy with top marks. She began to work at an emergency 112 call center. Working there, a brutal murder case takes place and her father/police sergeant went to the crime scene. Her father is killed there and Kwon-Joo hears what happened over the phone. Afterwards, she goes to the U.S. to study and comes back to Korea as a professional voice profiler.
Detective Jin-Hyuk and Kang Kwon-Joo solve cases together. Chasing a serial killer responsible for the deaths of their family member.

Jul 07 2024 6:54 pm fifth time watching this series, and never get bored. Every time I watch the series, I'm excited about what happens next even though I know what's going to happen. One of my favorite kdramas and among the first I watched. What should I start with? The storyline or their acting or the scenografic. I love this kdrama so much!!!! It's a bit scary though lol, I recommend watching it at night lol.

Im okay with the story line. Even though there are many crimes that happen, it is always related to the incident that happened to Ji Hyeok's wife and Ms.Kang's father. What I don't like is Ji Hyeok who likes to act alone and Mrs Kang who is always not at the Golden Center even though she is the head of the unit. She is not a detective. So why does she need to be present at the scene of the crime everytime?
I stopped watching at episode 8 because I was angry. The police always miss the opportunity to catch the criminals even though there is plenty of time. One more thing, I also don't like it when the police start to chase criminals in a group. Why can't they split up and just search by themselves? They have radio or so call walkie talkie with them right? Then in the police team, I have not yet seen the action of any police fighting with the criminals. I know the writer wants to highlight the character of the main lead, (MJH) but when it's like this it seems like the other cops don't know how to fight and all they know is to run and keep running, lol.
Nvm, theres several comment say this series worth it to watch and they even reccomended in tiktok. I need to watch till the last ep and want to know their reactions and what will happend when the real culprit been caught. Gtg, I have to continue watch them back.

Oct 08 2023 6:54 pm Great movie, wonderful actors but find the portrayal of the detective force a tad naive. They r not cautious or wary when they r in direct contact with suspects. I find this unbelievable on several occasions throughout the movie, it kinda spoil the thrill ofbthe show.
Aug 12 2023 11:16 am I just finished Ep 5... and the plot is a little bit annoy. In the 7-year-old case, why they didn't call the ambulance same time with police, when there is person get stabbed? Why all the police go away to chase after unidentified suspect? No CCTV in that area? And even when the male lead finds out the kid, they also waste time to talk instead of calling the ambulance at that time.
idk but when the victim is in danger, all the cast is slowly walking, talking, and admiring Hana.

Mar 25 2023 1:20 pm In my opinion, it's a great drama. Jang hyuk is a great actor and because of that, I'm being his fan. And I think, there's no problem with the story. I'm crying to much on first episode and when episode by episode end, I'll curious about next episode.
Feb 04 2023 3:10 pm The dumbest parts of this(and it happens often) is when something is dangerous and urgent, yet the characters stop and have an extended conversation. Like when Daeshik is severely injured at the end, they don't seem at a rush at all when bringing him out, and just stop for the other 2 leads to have a chat.

1st- male lead
S1 Male lead (Jang Hyuk) has been one of my fav action actor so there is no doubt abt his action also his facial expression. S2 and S3 male lead (Lee Jin wook) yeah! I like him in Nine drama and sweet home, Bugasal so many his work! I like his portray of Do Kang Woo. It's shame that we lost Do TeamJang in S3.
S4 Male lead. Yah! Actually, voice has been one of my most favourite crime drama so I really don't like Song Seung hoon to be male lead because I thought he would not fit with the role of Voice male lead character before. But he portrayed too greatly. But I like S123's male leads more.
For villians!!! Yeah!! I Like All Of The Four Villains!!!
They All Gave The Great Vibe Of Villain!
I really hope that voice 5 would be great as other seasons before. Don't let us down.

If I were to rank them it would go like this: Season 1 then season 2 and then season 3 (season 3 would have been higher were it not for the ending because I loved how dark it was. But that ending....even though I'm hopeful that he's alive but still it physically hurt) Moo jin hyuk was the best detective Do kang woo was the best partner (maybe even more) Derek cho....meh I have no comments. Too bland. In fact I like to pretend that season 4 does not exist. I know that may be harsh considering how hard the entire cast worked and that SSH did his own stunts but I just couldn't continue watching it and dropped it

Aug 27 2021 9:20 pm As a person who lives in Korea and has lived here for quite some time, while the things Kang KwonJu does may be a little annoying at times to Westerners who have a different view of the 911 system, overall the drama does what it is supposed to do - entertain. I'm not watching this for it to be real, I'm watching it for it to be entertaining. I mean, come on, the woman has near superhuman hearing and it still takes them a long time to solve crimes when she can hear everything? It's a drama. Crazy things continued to happen in the following seasons, but the show remained entertaining for the fight scenes if nothing else. The villain was always entertaining as well. I enjoyed it, and hope they continue to make seasons.

Jun 02 2021 10:40 am I finished season1 due to jang hyuk and tried my very best to finish season2 but i just can't. Kang is just too annoying. Her expressionless face and monotonous voice are just too distracting. Worse, there are just too many procedural police/emergency lapses in this series and it can only be due to poor writing. Where do you see a 911 operator ask a caller non-urgent questions before actually sending help. I still can't get over the fact that they hired an actress with only 1 facial expression for all scenes. And they kept a lazy writer too.
May 30 2021 2:59 pm It was a great watch - loved the plot twists that they put in every episode. Definitely kept things interesting. The acting was superb, like seriously hands down some of the best I've seen. It's a none-stop thriller that you won't get bored with (believe me, I have a short attention span, so this was a real treat for me). I will give the other seasons a watch but it will be hard to beat this one :)
Apr 07 2021 12:07 am My honest review. The story is good. Acting in on point. Very disturbing as well and I think this has to be the darkest OCN's drama. Definitely in my top 5 OCN's list. But there are some plot holes here and there but it is not too bad actually. Overall, really great! 8/10 from me.

Mar 29 2021 3:38 am I agree with some comments that said the story is so annoying and stupid. It annoyed me how they never learn from their past mistakes. Like they know how the FL was kidnapped once because she took act by herself, the same with the ML. But why just after that (like right the next episode) they, again, took action by themselves. Like the ML always reject his partner's offer to go with him and told him to stay in his post. But like the heck? Police work in partners have its reason, it's for their safety and to make sure they can cooperate in catching the criminal faster/easier. But no, always do everything by oneself. The FL is even weirder, she supposed to work in the Emergency Center as the Head, but most of time she never at the EC and instead wandering around (By Herself) to the most dangerous place -_- and she can't even protect herself. Where her braveness come from? She don't know how much trouble other people went for to save her once from the kidnapper (she almost die, already buried in the ground), like the heck? Does it make sense? She supposed to be the brain in the EC, but she never at the EC most of time -_- It doesn't make sense how she always on the scene. I already tried my best to watch till ep 9, but it just ticked me off more and more. Other similar dramas are better than this series overall (like signal, tunnel, etc)

Jan 23 2021 8:56 am Female protagonist Lee Ha na ( Kang Kwon-Joo) is expressionless in this series. She doesn’t show any feelings or expressions in her face. She is very boring. Drama has too many flaws. Story line is really good. Could have been better with good actors. Serial killer Kim jae wook is the only good actor in this series.

Dec 16 2020 1:26 pm Just like my name voice still makes me cry, am the type of person that likes the drama when she watches it buy questions herself why she watched this stupid drama but I started watching voice the first day of its release and I still cry over it not because it's emotional no. It's because I miss it. Amazing acting I really hate that others hate on Lee Hana just because she's not pretty like wtf her acting is everything and Jang hyuk is uhh uhhh no comment the plot twist and everything is so amazing. And it's not that type of supernatural drama no its just that the lead actress can hear everything like literary everything. It's so God damn amazing periodt

Sep 24 2020 2:53 am i cant agree with others views on this drama, this drama series was one of the most frusterating, exciting thrilling drama, people only dont like the lead female because shes not the "pretty" that people usually see. BUT this drama had me on my seat and from season one to three was immaculate. the way the actors just portraited things so well Wow 100/10 seriously.

Aug 18 2020 9:56 am i love detective stories and this drama was highly recommended so i had high expectations. Sadly, as a police story this series sucks! The writer frequently puts unnecessary talks during life and death situations. The lead female's ability is almost an amazing superpower but it is annoyingly on-demand and selective. And worst of all, the violent crimes team is so useless. The only saving grace is the lead guy's acting.

Jun 15 2020 7:14 am i would want to love this series too but there are just too many stupidities that hinders me from watching more. im currently at episode five and still they're redoing the notion of "chasing after the wrong guys for almost the entirety of the episode before realizing that the real culprit was just right under their nose". this happens for every single case in every episode, that it has basically taken away the element of plot twist already.
at this point, when they tell me the culprit is person A, i already know it's gonna be person B because they would think they're being smart like that. the guy main lead acts like he's drunk and grinding his teeth every second. female lead is just meh. the police are either fucking dumb or they're just being bribed.overall, not the best one out there. im discontinuing it.

The writers put a well-thought for the script. It’s the best action-thriller drama for me. The only thing that bothers me is Lee ha na acting, she’s so stiff, but it’s still fine. Btw, Baek sung Hyun deserves a leading role, hope to see him as a lead role someday.

Every actor has his own charisma in this Kdrama and you can absolutely feel every single emotion because of how well they acted. A lot of things were totally unexpected. It’s also interesting how they included the people in a processing way one by one so the viewer can have a clear image of how well structured such rich and influential organizations are (or rather the leaders who own everything). The acting of all of them was superb. The only thing to criticize at this point is how slow and dumb the female lead was most of the time. Which makes no sense since she wasn’t portrayed this way at first. All in all I would give it a 9,5/10 !!

Mar 11 2020 12:41 pm Outstanding Drama. The lead actor and all the supporting actors and actresses did a great job. The bad guy (Kim Jae Wook) along with Jang Hyuk gave this Drama the five stars. The only problem I had, was the lead actress! I realize she was the third choice, but, maybe the should of went to the fourth or fifth or tenth. I have seen many dramas and for me (only me), this was the worse performance I have witnessed. Since both the actors are gone from Voice 2, I will not be putting any more of my time in on this Drama. Again, Voice is worth your time!

I kept repeating watching season 1 because I really like his relationship with Kang Kwon-Joo. I think he portrayed crazy dog as well as revenge for his wife perfectly well. I wish to see him in season 4. I doubt it will happen. He seems to surrender totally on this show. Still I wish I will see Jang Hyuk and Lee-Ha Na together again. I totally adore their chemistry. I love Do Kang Woo too but he passed away in season 3.

Apr 28 2019 8:30 am Oh, it's been two years. I love the drama but I just want to redo the ending because it doesn't make sense that Mo Tae Goo is so easily beaten by Moo Jin Hyuk. The fight should be more thrilling and the win should be decided in a thin line. After all he's supposed to be an ultimate villain of this drama and a sick psychopath at that. No matter how good of a fighter Jang Hyuk is, they (martial arts director) should've toned it down.

Jul 08 2018 11:34 pm Spoilers Almost done with 3. Disappointed. Wanted to love it. Lee Ha Na is a great actress, from alome in love I’m a fan. Love the twist of the kidnapping. There was so much potential here. But why did the writer/director/producer decide to over due on it on the entire police force being jerks. The behavior doesn’t make sense. An officer who is a family member of a crime victim is not going to argue with the call center while a victim is on the phone in immediate danger. No way could solve her murder so quickly in the first place, is the officer dumb? Of course it’s a cover up. It took five hours to find the first victims body? Then the call center gets slack for calling her back which had her discovered by the criminal. They obviously didn’t have her location if it took that long to find her. In Seoul it took five hours to find anyone in an alley in the middle of the pathway near a church? Doubt it. She wasn’t hidden. Her head wasn’t bashed in and then her body moved. I don’t know the Lee Ha Na’s character is going to make it to the last episode since she witnessed both murders and the murderer knows she talked to him and could recognize him at any time. And the really irritating thing is the men in blue would dishonor not only their own by lying about his death in the line of duty but also mess with the case of the wife of an officers murder. And for the love of God arm police in Korea. He got beat up that bad and showed up to work hours later with no physical check up or anything? The kidnapped girl is surrounded by weapons, even holding a brick to throw out the window but neither the call center tells her or her own self thinks to grab one of the knives or another brick to use to defend herself? Also don’t understand how no trail of blood with the kid stabbed in the apartment or in the Stairway when he wasn’t in the apartment.The mom didn’t even have blood on her, nor did the security accomplice. On the one hand police are separate from the call center and on the other they aren’t separate? Lazy writing.

This drama is heartless aside from brutal way of killing people the male actor has no more heart to give to the male actress because his heart belongs to the dead, that is the flaw I'm talking about. But though it's heartless I still like it because of Jang Hyuk. I'm also looking for the psychopath playing his lead role in the future.

Mar 25 2018 11:25 am this is a good thriller drama, i enjoy it, the cast are superb, each ep has its own case but somehow it has connection to the main plot, oh and it has very little "coincidences" like usual common kdramas, or "tunnel" for this genre, it is relatively realistic although if you want to nitpick it, you still can find how the timing of several events could not be more convenient. i like it, bit disappointed at the ending but well, overall its a good one.
also, what i notice of these crime/detective/thriller dramas, ep 1-15, the main cast run around from east to west, north to south to find the main villain but he/she is so slick almost like ninja so its almost impossible to catch him/her. but in last ep/usually 16, the villain suddenly becomes stupid, like really dumb, overconfident, waste unnecessary time and action to forever shut up (kill) the main cast but nope, just getting dumber and dumber, and eventually he/she got caught, and everybody live happily ever after. not meaning to bash but its getting boring to see the same template for ending, i wanna see extreme ending so normies would banging their heads seeing their heroes got shattered lol.. peace

The storyline was phenomenal and so many twists and mysterious! Kept me interested to learn more and also solve the mystery along with the detectives. Also best villain yet! Quite a lot of these mysteries are sorta true - happened in real life - especialy the human organ trafficking - a problem in Asia... That is terrying. Quite a lot of the scenes in this drama is very gory and horrific. Viewer discretion is advised. One thing though - I hated Jang Hyuk's character in here - most irritating character ever. Jang Hyuk is cool as a person - but man his role was frustrating.

I mean, it's supposed to be a procedural-ish drama, right? Urgent cases are urgent so some of the dramatic lines/scenes are so out of place. I finished the drama because of Kim Jae Wook and Baek Sung Hyun.
The ending was so weak as well. But anyway, there were some heart stopping cases/episodes that kept me on edge. That one with the kid? Omg, I had to pause so that I can cry for a while T.T

I mean, Kang Kwon-Joo is badass, she has Daredevil hearing, she studied abroad to become the very best at what she does and she convinced her bosses to give her Golden Time Team. She is tough, she is focused and she is strong...
However, right after she meets Goodguy Moo Jin-Hyuk she suddenly cannot even protect herself without a man.
I mean come on. Seriously? She has a bloody Gun! And a badge, and she can't even convince a lady pimp to cooperate with the law without needing Goodguy on her back.
It's insulting, but hey that's just me wanting some decent representation.

And where is tae go bodyguard when all these event happen? ? man, i really wanna love this drama but i cant...
Signal still the best. And kim jae wook's acting blew me away. Gonna watch his other drama. ?

The character itself isn't something easy to portray and i'd say she did well. ppl who still complaint really seem to just want to hate for the sake of it since i've seen the hate comments even before the drama aired, seriously that's low. anyway, i love how the drama let the heroine to have the authority and be a badass even without showing fighting skill-Kwonjoo's own brand of badass made her my fav character n highlight of the show. even though the drama didn't focus much on characterization n has questionable plotholes but the goal n intention of this drama itself is beautiful n badass. and for that, thumbs up.

And I think Lee Ha Na is not suit the character, but I admitted she was trying hard. But I still continue watching this drama bcoz of Jang Hyuk. OCN always make dramas with unique concept and due to this, it holds a unique spot in k-drama industries despite of few productions per year. This drama is a must watch if action and crime genre appeal you.

It was always the hero and heroin only become the superman and superwoman in all finishing of the plot and catching the criminals . All are one man show. And so much talking with the suspect for emotion. The control dept also been listening to all hectic situation and showing their sadness or suspense but doing nothing to help.. Emm.. And What happen to all the korean policemen. Only show up at the wrap up only. So i found myself pressing the forward button more frequent. Another one.. The title should be The Sound not the voice coz the story is not about voices only. However i luv jang hyukkk oppa.

VOICE is one of the excellent dramas I have ever watched under detective, crime, thriller genre in any language such as English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. Of course I am an International fan. First of all if I tell about the actors here, THUMBS UP GUYS… U NAILED IT. KGJ, MJH AND MTG. And also, Actors who participated for other characters, made us stick to this drama so beautifully. Even though, I had seen Jan Hyuk in his previous dramas, never seen Lee Ha Na and Kim Jae Wook before this drama. When the first episode was aired, I had some kind of hesitance to watch this as I have never seen the lead actress in any drama or movie. But I gave it a try. OMG from the first episode I couldn’t do it. Who is she? Later I found about her and saw she has done several projects earlier. But I guess this is the character of her (LHN) re-discovery. She was the one for this character KGJ. She was feminine and she showed her feelings such as nervousness, hesitating, sadness etc.. as a human being. She showed KGJ is not a type of Super Man, but a human being in a uniform. She is tuff in front of her subordinates, but inside filled with a lot of sorrows, hatred towards the culprit who killed her father while she begged not to etc.. I liked the drama so much and I was impatient to watch the next episode every week and I felt just like watching a movie. Ah I must tell MTG, Wow… Your superb acting brought this drama a higher status. This drama’s directing, music, background songs, sets, writing, casts sound effects, editing, art directing etc.. everything was good. But the shaky camera was the only weak point I found in this drama and sometimes it badly affected to read subtitles too. Thank you every one who did this wonderful task and letting us to watch them……
ah yes.... we need season two with the SAME CASTS., specially lead male and lead female

I was reading the comments and I never thought some ppl didnt liked her acting? She portrayed the character so well tho? her character is so cool and i'm glad she's the one who played it. Anyways, I miss them already :(

Mar 13 2017 7:19 pm Just finished the last episode, and i felt like it was rushed. I wasnt satisfed. I wanted jutice to be served. Shouldve taken it to court or smtg. To recognize the heroes main efforts in catching all the bad guys, and reperations/condolences that they deserved... But it meh. At last he finally got the last bullet. thats what we were all waiting for.
Anywho, watched the last ep to the end, and the ending credits said smtg along the lines of... in honor and rememberance od the victims who could have been saved during the golden hour time... And they listed the names of the charcters in the series who died. Was all these stories in the drama based on true stories? ? Im really curious now.

I personally found Lee Hana's voice soothing, so she was a great choice for the role. Jang Hyuk is always amazing, so I don't need to say much. ;) I'm a little relieved and sad that it's over.

Mar 13 2017 10:38 am Thriller, suspend was full packed love how well each character has done their job , from ep 1 to 16 it was awesome, but I have one doubt why did the doctor and the patient killed Mo Tae-Goo so brutally, I know he was a psycho and he deserve to die, but it was too inhuman and moreover, Mo Tae-Goo after being shot by Moo Jin-Hyuk was almost dead ( since he cnt neither walk nor was able to his hands), the last few minute was so blank for me.

So if there was no KGJ, MJH still believes that his wife's killer was Dong Chul. Therefore, the killer must have a special grudge against KGJ as he experienced how she caught him as the killer of their relatives and hope it will be shown in the very last episode which is going to be aired today. Only one episode is left and every other episode which were telecast upto now were so good n felt like watching a movie. A good drama to watch who likes thrilling dramas. So sad its gonna end. Everything is good in this drama, all the casts, writers..etc. Thumbs up for both lead Female and Male actors. Next... waiting for Whisper..

For me this drama is a dream come true cos 1) i'm totally into this genre and 2) jang hyuk is the male lead (my fave korean actor).
And seriously i have no issues with the lead actress like some people, i think she's doing a pretty good job. Not as good as kim hye soo in signal mind you, but effective enough in her character.

This drama is sooo OCN, the story and details are enjoyable. At first, I think to skip this drama bcs of Lee Hana but I then decided to watch for Baek Sung-hyun. I'm still traumatized with King of High School. LoL. I really had high expectation bcs of Seo Inguk but I had to drop it out due to Lee Hana's acting but her acting in Voice is getting better and bearable. So far, I have no consent against her.

Not up to their standard, the actor/actresses will get a whole lot of NGs. The toughest part of LHN's role is to memorize scripts. She need to talk alot and analysize a lot with the shortest time given. She needs to calm the victims a lot. She acted quick witted to solve every problem quickly. Come on... I'm not sure if it's the fault of the director or the actress, but it doesn't matter; Lee Ha-na is just horrible (similar comments of her poor acting have been made on other websites).

Others..but both killer are peferctly insanes. Besides mo taek goo goes everywhere without that cover black jacket he is more free and dont scared people know him because he has power. But the main killer user that rain cover jacket to cover his face.. He scared people recognize him..i think he is a familiar one like dae sik? Indeed the murder face look like taek goo but still not sure the writers reveals us rhe true murder now. This is still ep 12 peehaps mo taek goo has a twin? But why mo taek go collects all his victims hair.

And the ones complaining about too much camera movement, this drama is about relaying the victims feelings and making it as close as a real case. After all the drama is inspired by true stories. This is real devotment from the production crew and we can see that they worked really hard to film this.

Feb 22 2017 10:54 am @clip, I thought the same thing., This drama has a nicely written story, excellent casts (may be there not top actors, actresses in Korea, but they doing it great). so this drama has already gotten enough popularity too. as well tension is higher due to the story line. So no need to shake the camera unnecessarily.. We know that the director, camera director they use this method to increase the tension of the scene. But the result is reducing its viewers., coz it's giving us a headache, eye pains and also subtitles cannot be read due to the shaky camera... I wish they will consider stopping that shaky camera method..

However, JH and KJ only knows 1 side of the story, (how they need to catch the killer) .. They have to keep searching for more clues. Things that they didnt know, we knew coz we are the drama. Therefore, the questions that we asked, might olso be the answers that they wanted to know.

But it seems terrible watching this because of the camera effect (CAMERA IS MOVING FASTER THAN THE CHARACTER'S MOVEMENTS). AND it happens all over the drama and eyes n head become painful. Its a bad camera strategy, it is to be used only in action scenes to increase the tension but not all over 60 minutes of drama. I suggest the DIRECTOR should watch this at once and feel the pain too.. Drama must be good, characters too. but can not watch due to the CAMERA MOVEMENTS. I stopped watching this drama bcoz I don't want a headache watching this.. The last ep I watched was 8.

There are just too many holes in this drama. How long until they start an actual arc instead of just a new cliff-hanger every episode that gets solved in the next (while murders take so long to deliver the final blow the police will find them in time even if they begin their search in Busan). This one is NOT well made.

I loved the intensity and suspense it gave off; I loved the emotions it played off of and how it doesn't portray a typical Lovey-Dovey-Happy-Go-Round KDrama. Not saying there is anything wrong with those dramas' (because that's where I started off and I still watch shows like that), but this one just gave me a different feeling. I give kudo's to the actors because I can't imagine how much emotion and patience has go into that kind of screening. I have been inside a 911 call center before (yes I know this is just acting but still) and the amount of patience they have or the ability to help calm a victim down is amazing!! Lee Ha Na made it seem like I was almost back in the 911 call center; kudo's to you girl! I would definitely recommend this show if you're interested in anything crime, suspense, mystery, etc. genres.

I tolerated because of Seo In Guk. Otherwise, I could never torture myself to watch Lee Hana.It's quite a waste to put her in this otherwise exciting new series , Voice. The other characters with smaller roles like the police force have more convincing acting skills. Wish another more competent actress had replaced Lee Hana!

Dec 15 2016 12:42 am Wow!!! What can I say....I'm excited to see this drama, and I don't care how it turns out ratings wise. I hope that the South Korean viewership, as well as the International viewers will get behind this drama. The cast look excellent...anything that Jang Hyuk is in....I am watching until completion. I especially love that Kim Jae Wook is making an appearance after a long departure from the drama and film scene.....congratulations Jae Wook, it's good to see you make a step back into the acting world...you're true fans have missed you.
To the entire cast...sending my well wishes for a successful show....writers/producers/directors...if you haven't finished filming and fine turning this script...please do so....I want to see awards for this drama...for all the cast.
