Volkswagen Virtus

Exterior and Design

Design-wise, Virtus looks like a typical Volkswagen car, thanks to the chrome finishing on the grille. The front profile also features, sleek LED headlamps, a sporty bumper, massive air intake, separate fog lamp housing and sculpted bonnet hood to remind that it is a VW car. Alloy wheels on the side profile look impressive. However, if talking about the rear end, then the taillamps are capable enough of improving the overall stance.

In terms of dimensions, Virtus stands at 4561mm in length, 1752mm in width, 1507mm in height and a long wheelbase of 2651mm. Since the brand claims that it is using the MQB A0-IN platform, the ride and handling are expected to be the best in the segment.

Interior

Volkswagen has tried its best to improve the cabin experience. As a result, this upcoming sedan is loaded with tons of features such as a massive 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, cooled glovebox, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC, six airbags and automatic climate control to name a few.

Engine & Powertrain

Just like what the German marque offers in Taigun, the same setup is expected to be available in the Virtus as well. Starting with the entry-level variants, they are expected to come loaded with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that is capable of churning out a decent 113BHP and 175Nm of peak torque.

The brand has also decided to offer the Performance Line trim that will be using a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. As claimed by Volkswagen, this unit is tuned to propel a massive 150BHP and 250Nm while making Virtus the most powerful C-segment sedan along with the recently launched Slavia.

There are several gearboxes available depending upon the variants. Thankfully, the 6-speed manual transmission is standard across the entire range. There is a 6-speed torque converter available with the smaller engine. Meanwhile, the powerful 1.5-litre TSI motor uses a DSG transmission to make the shifting job more convenient.

Alternatives

When launched, Virtus is going to go head-on against the likes of other C-segment sedans, including Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. Planning to buy a sedan? Let’s take a look at the all-new Slavia down below.
