Choosing to volunteer at Genesis makes a difference greater than you could imagine. We are grateful to our volunteers for their time and efforts to best support the women and children we serve. If your interest is to volunteer as an individual, family or group, we have opportunities for you. Whether it is a one-time project or an ongoing partnership, we would love you to be a part of our family of volunteers!

To volunteer at Genesis you must attend a volunteer orientation. Volunteer orientations teach you about the programs and services we offer, and help you determine the best fit for them with Genesis Women’s Shelter. Once you complete your interest form you will be contacted with upcoming orientation dates.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Benefit Thrift Store Assistant Expand

Experience the magic of the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store! All proceeds from the shop go directly back to Genesis. Additionally, our women and children can shop here for free! Volunteers will assist staff in the donation drive-through center, merchandise inventory, and greet customers. Shifts are available Monday through Saturday from 9:30am-12:30pm or 1:30pm-4:30pm, and Sunday from 12:30pm-4:30pm.

Office Angel Expand

Help our office staff organize and inventory donations, assist the Fund Development team with special projects, or provide overall support with day-to-day office operations to ensure smooth functioning. Every Thursday 9 AM to 11 AM.

Support Our Events Expand

Support our fundraising efforts by joining a host committee for an upcoming special event.

Court-Appointed Community Service

We proudly partner with the Volunteer Center of North Texas in order to help individuals meet their required court-appointed community service hours. All court-ordered volunteers will perform their hours at the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store located at 3419 Knight Street, Dallas, TX 75219. Please bring all required paperwork you received from the court.

Court-Appointed Community Service Volunteer Hours: Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday 12:30 to 5 p.m.

Please park on the street when you arrive to save parking spaces for our Thrift Store customers.
