VW Golf GTi Mk5 TFSi 2004/2008 SPORT SOUND
The Powervalve REV II Turbo-back(with 125mm road-legal 100/200 cell cat) SPORT exhaust is our mid-range option for the VW Golf GTi Mk5 2.0 TFSi, providing you with a perfectly balanced sports tone both externally and internally above the stock exhaust note, when the car is running off boost (Cruising and driving sedately). However, as you are no doubt already aware if you are looking to create the best possible audible thrill...
Powervalve offers a unique perspective on exhaust technology, providing the driver with the option of two distinct natures. When the car is pottering around or cruising, the sound is uplifted and noticeable yet controlled and non-intrusive. However, once the car is driven aggressively and produces a key level of boost pressure everything changes and the sound becomes purposeful and redefined reflecting the true essence of the GTi 2.0 TFSi. All of which are under the complete control of your right foot, therefore, you determine the sound minute to minute depending on your particular driving requirements. By using this unique interaction, the driver ceases to become desensitized in the way you would with a non-variable sound, leaving you looking for more time behind the wheel...
The system has a greater audible volume than the cat back offering, however, with careful design and development we have created a system that ensures that any unwanted in-car frequencies are removed, leaving you with a perfect drone-free experience, together with our characterful pop and burble, free-revving sound.
The primary use for the Sport variant system is public road or track.
As with virtually all of the TFSi engined vehicles, there is very little performance gain to be had from the cat-back system on its own, due to the incredibly restrictive downpipe and twin OEM cats. However, by opting for our unique downpipe and high flow cat the power potential will massively increase, firstly with an initial 22bhp kinetic, and then once mapped all the way up to stage 3 the following figures are achievable (along with suitable additional hardware...)
The TFSi K03-based AXX BWA performance guide
- Stage 2 custom remap 275 hp 330 lbft
- Stage 2+ custom remap 290 hp 360 lbft
- Stage 3 k04 / hybrid custom remap 350 hp 370 lbft
The TFSi K04-based BYD BWJ BHZ CDL Performance guide
- Stage 2 custom remap 340 hp 340 lbft
- Stage 2+ custom remap 380 hp 400 lbft
- Stage 3 k04 / hybrid custom remap 550 hp 550 lbft
(all Performance figures are based on levels achieved by R-Tech Performance)
If you require more power from your GTi we recommend the 76mm (up to 400 bhp) or 90mm (400 bhp+) downpipe to go with this system.
We also recommend that the Powerflex up-rated dog-bone mount is selected when purchasing the full turbo-back system. This will decrease the amount of stress on your downpipe once the car's torque has been increased after remapping.

The trim options for this product are
Lightning / Lightning BlackTyphoon/Typhoon Black
As the original rubber mount for the centre silencer is prone to wear in regards to its ability to support and prevent excessive movement, we recommend its replacement with the upgraded VW rubber as shown below.
